GOP Senators Cruz, Hawley face growing calls for disbarment [Video]

  • Thousands of lawyers and law students have called for the disbarment of GOP Senators Ted Cruz (TX.) and Josh Hawley (MO.) for challenging the Electoral College results that certified President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
  •  Petitioners believed that both lawmakers contributed to Wednesday’s riot which resulted in five deaths.
  • Cruz and Hawley also faced calls for resignation.

Republican Senators Ted Cruz (TX.) and Josh Hawley (MO.) are facing calls for disbarment.

Thousands of lawyers and law students argued that both lawmakers have incited violence that contributed to Wednesday’s Capitol chaos, by contesting President-elect Joe Biden’s victory during Congress’ joint session.

First reported by The American Prospect, the petition said that “Senators Hawley and Cruz directly incited the January 6th insurrection, repeating dangerous and unsubstantiated statements regarding the election and abetting the lawless behavior of President Trump. A violent mob attacked the U.S. Capitol. Five people have died.”

“The nation and the world watched as rioters took over the very halls and chambers that embody our democracy. Yet after the violence and terror of the day’s events, Senators Hawley and Cruz still chose to stand in the chamber of the U.S. Senate and persist in their baseless objections to the will of the people,” the petition continued.

A group of Yale law students which include Daniel Ki had kicked start the petition. In his interview with The Washington Post, Ki said that they believed that “it was important to speak up.”

“We decided to ask other law students and members of the bar to join in the call to begin immediate disbarment proceedings against Sens. Hawley and Cruz and have been inspired and heartened by the overwhelming response,” he told the newspaper.

Signees of the petition include former Democratic Senator Russ Feingold (WIS.), retired judge H. Lee Sarokin and Harvard Law professor Laurence Tribe, among many others.

Hawley was particularly cited by former GOP National Committee Chairman Michael Steele after a photo showed that the senator made a gesture of support to pro-Trump supporters in Washington earlier Wednesday.

Both Cruz and Hawley have also faced calls of resignation from their Democratic colleagues including Senators Patty Murray (WA.), Chris Coons (DEL.) and Sherrod Brown (OH.)

Both lawyers who came from Harvard and Yale law schools have earned the ire of the public for continuously backing President Donald Trump and his baseless accusations of a fraudulent election, resulting in his supporters’ rage that ended in violence with the Capitol police.

The siege resulted in five deaths, including the passing of one police officer.

  1. Before we disbar anyone, let’s have all the Senators and Representatives put on race car divers racing suits, the one which shows all the sponsors, but this time have them show who the donors are. The ongoing problems are not about healing, but who has the power. Just remember someone voted these clowns into office, shame on them.

  2. The democrats are totally scorched earth fed by them getting power which is intoxicating to them. Over playing their hand is as predictable as the Republican flair for squandering opportunity.

  3. Those lawyers and students are all democrats brain washed. First they have to have a proof which they don’t have it. Biden is a criminal and has to be stopped before inauguration or after. He is a thief and used power authority to make himself and his family rich by stole millions dollars from foreign countries. Big Tech never show the Ukrainian conference tape where is Ukrainian officials said that.

  4. There is more then enough proof that Trump supporters were not responsible for the damage done on Jan 6. The left staged the whole thing and they should have to pay for their crimes. Cruz and Hawley have just cause to hit their accusers with a number of lawsuits. They have many supporters that are backing their innocence.

    1. Your Kool Aid has been spiked with arsenic. Stop drinking it NOW or it will kill you. Look in the mirror and say: I will think for myself from this day forward so help me GOD. If you want – I and my friend Donald will send over more Kool Aid.

    2. It’s a new day for our Country. Reckless and toxic vitriol will not be accepted by America. Unfounded conspiracy theories are on the out the door with trump. Ambition is rewarded when it is based on facts, something that Cruz lacks

  5. Again the double standard. It’s OK for Swalward or whatever his name is, to remain in office after sleeping with the enemy a Chinese spy. There’s the complicit Dem Gov’s & Mayors encouraging Burn Loot Murder/Antifa take overs of their States & cities. Police getting stand down orders to let the mayhem continue. Those are contributing factors in the destruction across America. From burning government bldgs to tearing down & defacing historic monuments & dedications to the ppl who fought for this republic through good & bad times. But the socialist/Marxist think they will change the US to their ideology but will not be accomplished without more death & destruction, which the left started Nov 5 2016 & Pelosi, Shumer, Shfty Shiff, Aunt Esther Mad max, Jerry fatman Nad’s & the rest of the sheep this bloodshed is on your hands.

  6. The article states baseless rumours of election fraud. We do not know this because there has not been a bi partisan agreement to look into the facts and check it all out. Both sides of the aisle should want this ‘baseless rumour’ quashed. If it is baseless why will not a bi partisan group push for investigation. We hear about judges knocking down the complaints but be precise its been on technicalities not on the validity of the evidence. The evidence has been reviewed because the complainants were said to have no standing to bring the action. It does look as though technically that is the case and in which case how do we see any natural justice and the ‘whole’ of America get back its belief in the integrity of the election system.? It just makes common sense to once and for all either prove or disprove the allegations.

    1. Agree. What’s shameful is these so called lawyers and legal professors declaring Cruz and Hawley guilty without allowing the evidence of election fraud to be presented. They are a disgrace to the legal so-called profession.

  7. Hawley and Cruz have attempted to overthrow the US government, the will of the people in order to support Trump. Pretend this happened in another country- say Russia, Saudi Arabia or Venezuela. Cruz and Hawley would be tried for treason. We must act to rid the Senate of traitors like Cruz and Hawley. Left unchecked – they will become the new Trump and thus our demise.

  8. Repubs need to be very involved in the politics of their states… Cruz won 2 years ago but not like he should. Every paper .. network is in the tank for the far left Communist Dems. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ flowing into these state electons from around the world In Texas these groups pushed Bozo the clown who had no ethic, knowledge , etc. Only thing he could do was stand on a skate board at 50… Our schools are being destroyed with left wing teachings .. Learn our history … Parents find outwhat your children are being exposed to… and it is not good. And leave your corrupt politics that destroyed your state in the state your are leaving…DO NOT BRING THEM WITH YOU.

  9. It is time for all republicans/independents/whoever else may be threatened by the democrats for any stupid reason, to start filing law suits, impeachment papers, whatever to stop those idiots from getting any dumber than the already act. Since they aren’t acting on behalf of the American citizens, then keep them busy defending their criminal activities. We need to protect oruselves, the democRATs haven’t a clue.

  10. No ! No ! Please don’t do that. Then they’d have to go to work defending scumbags and douches . …..Wait – they’re already doing that…..

  11. I read that Joe Biden has been in our Congress for 47 years. OMG and we just elected him President. What is wrong with us.
Trump had some good ideas, but he was not an exceptional person to bring them forward. We needed en exceptional person like
Reagan or Clinton to work both sides of the aisle and gain consensus where Trump just tried to bull his way through and Biden will
try to buy his way through.
