The suspect resisted arrest and violently assaulted the officer before two more individuals joined the assault, one wielding a snow shovel and the other a broom handle. During this struggle, the original suspect struck the officer with a shovel or broom stick after breaking loose.
“Fearing for his life and safety as he was being ambushed by three individuals, the officer fired a defensive shot to defend his life. The initial subject was hit in the leg.”
Both the ICE agent and the suspect were hospitalized. All individuals involved in the attack were taken into custody. In 2025, assaults against ICE agents grew by 1,300%, vehicle attacks by 3,200%, and death threats rose 8,000%, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
“This attack on another brave member of law enforcement took place while Minnesota’s top leaders, Governor Walz and Mayor Frey, are actively encouraging an organized resistance to ICE and federal law enforcement officers. Their hateful rhetoric and resistance against men and women who are simply trying to do their jobs must end.”
