Trump said.
He further detailed that oil sector reconstruction, financed directly by oil companies, aims to get production back on track to benefit Venezuelans.
He assured care for those displaced by previous rule, vowing American oversight will be conducted prudently and justly.
“We’re going to rebuild the oil infrastructure, which will cost billions of dollars. It’ll be paid for by the oil companies directly … and we’re going to get the oil flowing the way it should be.”
“She’s essentially willing to do what we think is necessary to make Venezuela great.”
Trump said of the newly sworn-in vice president, indicating a willingness to coordinate for national recovery.
Trump defended U.S. involvement as consistent with American interests, stating:
“We want to surround ourselves with good neighbors. We want to surround ourselves with stability. We want to surround ourselves with energy. We have tremendous energy in that country. It’s very important that we protect it.”
The operation in Venezuela follows recent patterns of challenging transitions after American-led interventions in Latin America.
Trump’s approach comes after years of hyperinflation and instability under Maduro, which drove mass migration and economic collapse.
Venezuelans, both domestic and abroad, were observed celebrating the U.S. operation in footage shared on social media.
Opposition leaders Edmundo González Urrutia and María Corina Machado persist in their efforts to contest Maduro’s previous control, advocating for free and fair elections.
Machado has urged Venezuela’s armed forces to support González Urrutia as the nation’s legitimate leader.
She continues pushing for international recognition and internal unity.
