WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Rep. Mo Brooks says he is willing to testify before the January 6 House select committee if subpoenaed.
  • Brooks slammed former President Trump after endorsing Katie Britt and losing his Senate primary race.
  • Brooks on Wednesday said Trump has “no loyalty” and is not a “man of his word.”

Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama said he’s willing to testify before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol attack if subpoenaed.

Brooks told CNN on Wednesday that he would be open to public testimony.

“My basic requirement is it be in public so the public can see it — so they don’t get bits and pieces dribbled out,” he said.

Brooks also said that he would want to see any documents that he might be asked about and that he would not speak other than issues related to the events of January 6, 2021.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the January 6 committee, told CNN that Brooks hadn’t yet been served with a subpoena so they had it “redone.”

“So we are in the process of either redoing it or it’s out the door already,” Thompson told CNN on Wednesday.

Brooks wasn’t served his earlier subpoena because he had been on the campaign trail, Thompson told The Hill. Subpoenas are valid for a limited timeframe.

In May, Brooks rejected a letter from the committee that called for him to testify.

Brooks used to be a staunch Trump ally and even sought the former president’s endorsement. However, Trump ultimately endorsed Katie Britt who beat Brooks in the Alabama Republican primary runoff on Wednesday.

Brooks slammed Trump on Wednesday, saying the former president has “no loyalty to anyone or anything but himself.” After his loss, Brooks said the “bad guys won” and accused Trump of not doing anything unless it “enhances his wallet or ego.”

Trump revoked his endorsement of Brooks after the lawmaker suggested the GOP should move forward to 2022 and stop relitigating the 2020 election. Trump accused Brooks of becoming “woke” and pulled back his endorsement.

A correct read on his actions. He lost the endorsement because he thought it was his call to be like Mike Pence and not challenge the corrupt 2020 election. He should watch 2000 Mules. Maybe then he won’t act like a donkey.

Mo Brooks deserved to lose the endorsement of President Trump. The 2020 election was stolen and We the People are not willing to ‘just move on’.

He sounds like a bitter loser. President Trump isn’t interested in money. If he were, he wouldn’t have been the only President, in stark contrasting to the taxpayer-bloodsucking career-politician JRB, who worked for the American people for FOUR YEARS without taking a single dime of salary. He donated it all to charity. President Trump should have challenged the usurper, the White House squatter, to commit to doing the same during the ‘debates’. Biden has not been satisfied with being enriched on the backs of the working class, he became greedy and compromised our national security with his dirty dealings (influence peddling, etc) with China and the Ukraine. He is as corrupt as any politician in United States history. Mo Brooks may think he’s getting revenge on President Trump by offering to testify to this unconstitutional kangaroo court of fools and clowns, but they will chew him up and spit him out after they’re done with him. No rewards for jumping ship. He’s tarnishing his own political image by turning against our President and he won’t come back from this. He’s done.

It’s all dirty politics, nothing more. Brooks did not get an endorsement and lost and lost the race, now he is going full “sour grapes” to throw Trump “under the bus”.

Mo Brooks is tasting sour grapes. He needs to do as he tells Trump: put on his big boy pants and accept his own defeat.
