WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Rudy Giuliani finally recognizes the victory of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
  • The lawyer’s announcement came only a few hours following the $1.3 billion lawsuit filed against him by Dominion Voting Systems.
  • In the past months, Giuliani has frequently touted conspiracy theories about the firm’s participation in the presidential election.

For the first time since the Nov. 2020 elections, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani admitted on Monday that Joe Biden won the presidency.

New York Times correspondent,  Azi Paybarah, reported that Giuliani said during his WABC-AM radio program that the election is officially over.  The former mayor added that “Biden’s the president, she’s the vice president,” referring to Vice President Harris.

The statement was only a few hours after Giuliani was charged by Dominion Voting Systems with a $1.3 billion lawsuit and indicted him of defamation. In the past few months, Trump’s attorney had frequently spread false conspiracy theories claiming that the voting firm was involved in the massive election fraud to make Biden win and take away the 2020 polls from then-president Donald Trump.

Following Dominion’s filing of charges, Giuliani released a statement saying the move will permit him to fully probe the company’s finances, history, and operations.

He added that the lawsuit asking for $1.3 billion only shows the company intends to intimidate weak-willed people, saying that “It is another act of intimidation by the hate-filled left-wing to wipe out and censor the exercise of free speech, as well as the ability of lawyers to defend their clients vigorously. As such, we will investigate a countersuit against them for violating these Constitutional rights.”

The case filed by Dominion is the newest legal obstacle for Giuliani, who is also facing a criminal investigation from the Manhattan US attorney’s office about a possible violation of foreign lobbying laws.

It was only early this month when a New York state senator formally requested for the disbarment of Giuliani over his uncorroborated and implausible allegations of election irregularities.

Being Trump’s lawyer, the former New York mayor also recommended after the 2020 election that Dominion and its competing election-innovation firm Smartmatic conspired to alter votes from Trump to Biden in key states. No evidence was presented to validate these claims, and numerous right-wing news outlets have since withdrawn their reports following a legal action threat by the two companies.

Giuliani and other conspiracy theory promoters like the Republican lawyer Sidney Powell have also magnified the unfounded assertions that Democrats and voting-machine companies colluded with deceased communist tyrants to rip-off the election from Trump.
