  • Florida residents flocked the beaches again as soon as they were re-opened on Friday.
  • Meanwhile, Texas residents gathered at the Capitol building in Austin to protest against the state’s extended stay-at-home order.
  • Protests to re-open businesses and restart work have also erupted in other states.

Several Americans have clamored for a return to normalcy over the weekend after states extended a stay-at-home order.

In Jacksonville, Florida, hundreds flocked to the beach as soon they were re-opened Friday night. Meanwhile, at the Texas Capitol building, residents protested against the coronavirus restrictions.

The Florida beaches were re-opened so that locals can resume outdoor activities like walking or swimming, but stationary sunbathing or hanging out in groups was still prohibited.

But many of the hundreds who flocked the beaches were not wearing masks and were not observing social distancing — causing others to get the hashtag #floridamorons trending on Twitter Saturday.

More than 700 have already succumbed to the virus in the state.

Meanwhile, in Austin, Texas, a rally was organized by “Infowars” host Owen Shroyer. Residents chanted “Let us work!” as they demanded the state to reopen.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott had said that the state’s reopening has to be planned with the help of a panel of medical and economic experts — and that it has to occur in stages.

On Monday, the state’s parks will reopen along with retailers — but only for delivery or pick up. Hospitals will also be able to resume non-essential surgeries.

The coronavirus has infected more than 18,200 and killed at least 453 in the state.

Other states are also slowly re-opening.

The states of Minnesota and Wisconsin indulged golfers when they re-opened golf courses. But golfers inevitably rushed to their respective golf courses. The states’ death tolls are at 121 and at least 200, respectively.

In Mississippi, some retailers such as florists and clothing stores will be allowed to re-open on Monday, but only for delivery or curbside pickup. The state has seen 140 deaths.

The nationwide tally of confirmed cases numbered at 694,296 on Friday with 31,456 deaths.
