WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • During his rally address in Georgia, President-elect Joe Biden criticized President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Vice-president-elect Kamala Harris also attended a rally a day earlier to campaign for Democrat candidates Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock.
  • More than 3 million Georgians have already placed their ballot in advance prior to Tuesday’s election.

As the Senate runoff in Georgia takes place tomorrow, President-elect Joe Biden attended the Democratic rally in the Peach State metropolis as he slammed President Donald Trump’s administration.

“This administration has gotten off to a God-awful start,” Biden said as he talked about the president’s COVID-19 handling.

“The president spends more time whining and complaining than doing something about the problem,” as he addressed the socially distanced crowd.

The former vice president added: “I don’t know why he still wants the job, he doesn’t want to do the work.”

Biden’s latest visit to the state follows a day after Vice-president elect Kamala Harris came to Savannah as she independently campaigned for Democrat candidates Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock.

The winners of the Georgia senate runoff would dictate whether Democrats will take control of the Senate or it will remain at the hands of the Republicans. Should both Ossoff and Warnock win, the split would be 50-50, and Harris, the upcoming Senate President, can break the tie.

Meanwhile, a loss would mean that Biden’s policy could face blockage by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and GOP company.

Trump was also set to come to the Peach State to rally for incumbent GOP senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.

The incumbent president trailed behind Biden by almost 12,000 votes as Georgia, a historically known red state, turned blue in the 2020 presidential election.

Even with multiple legal challenges and other efforts to reverse the election results, the Democratic tandem’s victory was already sealed as Biden poked fun during the rally saying that they “won three times,” a phrase that he repeatedly used since November.

“As president, I don’t believe your United States Senators work for me,” Biden said, before ending his speech. “I believe they work for the people of Georgia… It is time for this nation for God’s sake to finally come together, finally.”

Prior to the January 5 election, over 3 million Georgians have already cast their ballots in advance, a record high for a runoff race. This occurrence could yield unfavorable outcomes for the Republicans.

In a leaked audio call obtained by The Washington Post, Trump was talking to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Saturday. The president was overheard asking Raffensperger to “find more votes” that would enable him to flip over the election results, arguing that he won against Biden in Georgia.
