WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Shortly after White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany declared baseless accusation of ‘voting fraud’ during Monday’s press conference, Fox News cut short its coverage.
  • Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto said: “Unless she has more details to back that up, I can’t in good countenance continuing showing you this.”
  • President Donald Trump continued to accuse Democrats of cheating, saying they would pursue legal action to challenge the election results.

During Monday’s coverage, Fox News cut short the White House press conference following White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany’s baseless accusation that Democrats have committed voting fraud.

As Foxs News skipped covering the press conference, host Neil Cavuto said: “She is charging that the other side is welcoming fraud and welcoming illegal voting. Unless she has more details to back that up, I can’t in good countenance continuing showing you this.”

“Maybe they do have something to back that up, but that’s an explosive charge to make that the other side is effectively rigging and cheating,” he added, as the network veered away from the press conference.

The drill was unusual for the news network, which regularly covers President Donald Trump’s press conferences and rallies despite pronouncing unsubstantiated claims.

Disclaiming that she was speaking on her own, McEnany said that the election is “not over” and that GOP had  “only begun the process of obtaining an accurate, honest vote count.”

She continued by accusing Democrats of election fraud for being against voter ID laws, signature and other identity verification as well as refraining observers from monitoring ballots in the previous election.

“You don’t take these positions because you want an honest election,” McEnany said, adding that Democrats are “welcoming fraud” and “welcoming illegal voting.”

Alongside McEnany, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel on Monday raised instances regarding Michigan and Nevada’s voting irregularities. She also insisted that authorities were not provided due access to monitor votes in Philadelphia.

Despite acknowledging that seeking legal action would do little with the election results, McDaniel said that they would still pursue all pertinent legal remedies.

“Is it going to be enough? We don’t know. Is it going to take time? Yes,” she said.

Contesting the election results where Joe Biden was the apparent winner as projected by TV networks and news organizations, the conference was Trump campaign’s latest effort as he reportedly would not concede and attend Biden’s inauguration.

Since last week, the president and his campaign repeatedly declared allegations of election fraud without providing any proof. He said that the election was “far from over” and he would appeal his case to the court.
