A famous Mexican TV personality is facing heavy criticism after he went to Florida just to get doses against coronavirus, a vaccine which many Americans haven’t been administered with.

The host, Juan José Origel, who’s well known for anchoring several Mexican programs including “La Oreja” (“The Ear”), “Hoy” (“Today”), and “Ventaneando” (“Looking Out the Window”), tweeted on Sunday a picture of him while getting the injection while he’s inside his car.

Written in Spanish, Origel said on Twitter

“Already vaccinated!! Thanks #usa what a shame my country couldn’t grant me that security!!!”

It’s still not yet determined how the TV host was able to get the vaccine.

Many people on social media were not happy with what he did, calling him insensitive and arrogant about the injection.

Dallas Texas-based outlet   Al Dia (Up To Date), reported that Origel went to Miami, Florida, to have the doses because the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine in Mexico was slow-moving.

On Monday, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that 24 million doses of Sputnik COVID-19 vaccine from Russia will be arriving in two months.

The Mexican president,  who was berated for not implementing stricter coronavirus measures in the country, confirmed on Sunday that was infected with COVID-19 with only little to mild symptoms.

Meanwhile, non-Americans going to the U.S to get vaccinated is not unusual.

Canadians are also considering going to the U.S for the injection and leave the country within the same day. Wall Street Journal also reported that some Argentines have also endured long travel to get the shot in Florida.

Yanina Latorre, a TV celebrity from Argentinia has posted on her Instagram account that her mother got the coronavirus vaccine while on a holiday in South Florida.

She announced to her 1.5 million Instagram followers that two fans assisted her to get a schedule for her mother who’s already 80 years old.

While Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida confirmed that it’s allowed for people to purchase second homes there to be qualified for getting the vaccine but tourists are not encouraged to do so.

The Department of Health in Florida said it will scrutinize any abuse about the use of coronavirus vaccines.

“It is absolutely not permitted for someone to come into Florida for one day to receive the vaccine and leave the next,”

Jason Mahon, the representative for the health department, explained to the outlet.

“We ask that all suspected incidents be reported to the appropriate county health department immediately, ”

he continued.
