Senate Republicans hesitant to push for Biden impeachment over classified docs

- Some Republican senators are not entertaining the idea to impeach President Joe Biden over his mishandling of classified documents.
- Their Republican counterparts in the House introduced over a dozen articles of impeachment in the last Congress.
- Sen. Mike Braun of Indiana similarly said The GOP should “be careful” about impeaching because the American people “will fatigue of that,” after the impeachments of former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump.
House Republicans are continuing to push for more information regarding classified documents found at President Biden’s home, but some of their Senate counterparts are warning not to take things too far.
A new report from The Hill revealed a number of GOP senators opposing the idea of impeachment, for one reason or another.
“I don’t think you want to get into where it’s a tit for tat, every two years or four years you’re dealing with impeachment proceedings in the House and Senate,” Senate Minority Whip John Thune, R-S.D., told the outlet, acknowledging that the standard for impeachment should be high. “There has to be a really good reason, obviously, the constitutional reasons and grounds for that. So we’ll see where it goes.”
Sen. Mike Braun, R-Ind., similarly said his party should “be careful” about impeaching, cautioning that the American people “will fatigue of that,” after impeachments of former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump ended up being fruitless.
“If you start doing it on everything, I think it would be bad politically and for the mechanics of government working,” Braun said.
Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, predicted that there will not be an impeachment, “with so many people in the same arena.” The discovery of Biden’s classified documents followed an FBI raid of Trump’s residence where hundreds of classified documents were found and preceded the revelation that former Vice President Mike Pence also had classified documents at home.
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, accused Democrats of “hypocrisy” for how they went after Trump.
“Nobody should take classified materials outside of a secure facility, period,” he told The Hill.
Cornyn said that the special counsel investigation will determine whether Biden committed a crime, but he personally did not believe the president engaged in an impeachable activity.
Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., felt differently, saying that it “actually might be an impeachable offense,” and that it “is the closest thing to one in recent years.” He said House republicans could come up with articles of impeachment, depending on the outcome of the special counsel’s investigation, but he also said he is not a fan of that course of action.
“I personally hate impeachments,” Cramer said, calling the first Trump impeachment “far-fetched and silly,” while noting that it could have set a bad precedent.
“Democrats created an impeachment cycle and we may be in that cycle,” he said.

I believe in Karma! Impeachment should never be done for purely political reason, but if serious crimes are committed, then throw the bums out of office, and throw them into jail if warranted!

And what about trump? Trump had a lot more classified documents than Biden did. FBI had to go to his house with a search warrant. Biden voluntarily gave them back. The FBI called it consensual. And as for the favoritism toward other countries. That was also trump. He was best friends with Russia. And that looked really odd to see them together.

The House impeached trump twice and nothing happened to him. Nothing will come of the Biden one either because democrats control the senate. And they will stop it just like republicans did with trumps 2 impeachments.

They tried to impeach Trump two or three times and it didn’t work because he hadn’t done anything wrong. Now, we have Biden who has committed many crimes and he is not going to be impeached? Impeach him and Harris. She has accomplished even less than Biden and our southern border remains open. When will this administration be held accountable?

I think sometimes that there are no honest politicians left anymore. They don’t want to hold another politician accountable for anything because they are afraid the same thing will happen to them. They are in a position where they should be held accountable for everything they do, regardless of how small it is. They control almost everything the American people have to do, spend the taxpayers money, and pass laws everyone but them have to abide by. They are being paid about 10 times what they should be paid, plus benifits and retirement after just a few years. Nobody else gets the same benefits as they do.. Pelosi even has a private jet to fly her backwards and forewards to Cal. each week, costing the taxpayers over $5 million a year. If she wants a private jet, she should pay for it herself. Most all the politicians go into office with almost nothing and come out millionaires. We need to clean up the political operations in this country while we still have a country left.

#1 – the one reason to impeach biden to start, is he disreguarding his oath of office on securing the united states borders
#2 – the theft of classifed top secret documents as he was not allowed under federal laws to have in his possesion all and any classified
documents after leaving office as vice president – he knew this was theft – and he left unscured which is a crime against federal law

Excellent idea. We, the people, are sick and tired of “special counsels, investigations, impeachments etc.” It does nothing but waste our money, millions and billions of taxpayer dollars that are needed elsewhere. The debt for one thing, defense. Forget Electric vehicles and such as they are being pushed way too soon, are not proved as safe. This administration has thrown the baby out with the bath water !!! People who go to D.C. to represent us should not become rich as a result. They should not have special privileges such as health care that we, the people, do not even have available to us. If it is such a good thing why can’t the rest of us enjoy it ? I would have loved paid transportation back and forth from my job to my home and it wouldn’t have cost $5 billion !And would it have been great to vote myself a raise every year. There are perks to every job but need to be regulated and enforced. God elp the American people and their home. We surely need iot.
