WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he will again be victorious in November elections unless it would be “rigged.”
  • Top Democrats are investigating the US Postal Service over its recent operational changes that would essentially impact the productivity of mail-in ballots.
  • Trump has repeatedly cast doubts about the integrity of mail-in voting, suggesting that it is prone to fraud and cheating.

During an address to his supporters on Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Monday, President Donald Trump again cast doubts about the election process, saying that he would only be defeated if the November election is “rigged.”

Encouraging the people to vote, Trump shared his thoughts before ending his speech.

“We have to win the election. We can’t play games. Go out and vote. Do those beautiful absentee ballots, or just make sure your vote gets counted. Make sure because the only way we’re going to lose this election is if the election is rigged,” Trump said at the outdoor campaign event.

“Remember that. It’s the only way we’re going to lose this election, so we have to be very careful.”

“The only way they’re going to win is that way. And we can’t let that happen,” he added.

The president’s address commenced hours before Joe Biden’s official announcement as the Democratic party’s presidential nominee.

According to recent polls, Biden continues to lead pass Trump nationwide and in some key swing states.

Democrats are currently working their way to address growing concerns on the US Postal Service after it announced last week that it won’t be able to service the casting of ballots for the upcoming elections despite having state guidelines.

In June, Trump appointed GOP financial supporter Louis DeJoy as USPS’ Postmaster General. DeJoy has recently imposed major changes to the organization like dispatching around 15 percent of mail-sorting machines and restricting employees to work overtime.

The move was part of cost-reduction efforts for the financially-hit agency. It drew large criticisms as Democrats accused Trump of tampering the Postal Service and using it to his advantage for the November election.

“It’s been run horribly. And we’re going to make it good,” Trump told Fox & Friends on Monday.

“Now what am I supposed to do? Let it continue to run badly? So if you fix it, they say, ‘Oh, he’s tampering with the election.’ No, we’re not tampering,” he added.

Trump’s latest pronouncement about the election process was an addition to his series of attacks on mail-in ballots which he believed were open to fraud. But his repeated allegations were debunked by experts who have claimed that there is no substantial evidence to say that mail-in voting is prone to election cheating.
