The officer then appears to drag Smith by his hair to a cell and throw him inside. This occurred during Smith’s processing for multiple felony charges, including carjacking.
However, it was the fellow officers’ reactions that set this event apart. Two other officers, present during the incident, reported the assault approximately an hour later. Their actions prompted an immediate investigation, culminating in Rodriguez’s suspension within hours. The two officers were commended by Police Commissioner William Dwyer for their actions, emphasizing that their decision to report the incident was “not easy.”
Despite not requesting medical attention or lodging a complaint, Smith was evaluated at a hospital after the assault. Rodriguez was subsequently released on a $5,000 personal bond, with a pretrial set for July 13.

Clearly the Officer’s conduct warrants disciplinary action. However,”silent” video evaluation provides no info as to the background to this incident. The calibre of the suspect, the seriousness of the offence for which he was in custody, and various pressures on the officer, etc, may help to ameliorate the otherwise reprehensible nature of his conduct.

Plain and simple, unless the officer was assaulted his actions where not acceptable. He had no reason the strike the detainee. The only thing that I am surprised at is both the officer and the inmate where black.I wonder if the black people in the state will riot because of it.

I look forward to the day when Artificial Intelligence runs the criminal justice system. It’ll be like the original Day the Earth Stood Still when Gort, the mechanical robot on steroids, makes the instant decision whether to zap the gun right out of the aggressor’s hands or just zap the aggressor out of existence. They’ll be no weak kneed lefty judges who give probation out to repeat criminals who never saw a car they didn’t want to hijack. It’ll come, but may be 50 or more years from happening. Every criminal will think twice about their behavior. As a result, we live in peace without the threat of violence from the thugs on the street. They’ll be no politician getting away with lining their pockets with money from evil foreign governments. In this case, this punk thug gets what he’s got coming. A permanent vacation.

Guarantee you if it had been a black officer hitting white inmate, no news article even if there had been footage. Just like Greg Kelly and Eric Boiling talked about on NewsMax.
