Washington Representative Pramila Jayapal told social media followers that illegal immigrants deserve financial compensation for the actions of the Trump administration.

During a House hearing, the left-wing lawmaker suggested that past enforcement of immigration laws constituted kidnapping and disappearing children.

Jayapal stated that a future administration should focus on holding officials accountable for their roles in border security measures.

She insisted that those enforcing the law must be targeted through the judicial system for their past work.

“We need real accountability because at the end of the day, the people that have been inflicting this harm need to be prosecuted,” Jayapal said at the hearing.

“They need to be brought before us and they need to be held account for the trauma that they have created and we are going to have to have some form of reparation.”

Democratic lawmakers have consistently fought against President Donald Trump’s efforts to mobilize Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

They are currently demanding that federal agents stop wearing masks and obtain judicial warrants before apprehending suspects on private property.

These demands come despite Trump winning a decisive 2024 victory based on his promise to secure the border.

On his first day back in office, the president designated several international cartels and gangs as foreign terrorist organizations.
