Israeli Defense Forces soldiers placed a foreign photojournalist in a chokehold while detaining a media team in the West Bank. The military unit held the journalists for several hours while they were reporting near the town of Tayasir.

The incident occurred as regional tensions remain high following reports of clashes and property disputes in the Judea and Samaria area. Recent demographic figures show over 500,000 Israelis now reside in these territories alongside approximately 3 million Palestinians.

The Israeli military has released the following statement to CNN:

“The actions and behavior of the soldiers in the incident are incompatible with what is expected of IDF soldiers operating in the Judea and Samaria area,” the IDF stated.

Officials confirmed the encounter will be thoroughly reviewed to address the breach of protocol.

Local health authorities also reported recent fatalities during separate security operations involving younger residents in the territory.
