Business Insider reported that Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen Pence, voted by mail in Indiana early this year using the address of the state governor’s mansion.

According to the voter record acquired by the outlet, the two send in their ballots for June’s GOP primary in their main home address in Indiana state on April 13. It was the mansion address of the governor in Indianapolis, where was reportedly not where they stayed since December 2016, when they moved to Washington, D.C.

However, the Pences are allowed to use their previous address to vote via mail as they are still registered voters from Indiana.

In a statement to The Hill, press secretary for the vice president, Devin O’Malley,  said that the Pences do not have another home property in Indiana; thus, the governor’s mansion is still their legally known registration address.

The disclosure was following  President Donald Trump administration’s persistence in bringing up concerns with states across the nation that have current extended mail-in ballot opportunities as a safety measure for voters during amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

The New York Times, meanwhile, also reported that the vice president was an absentee voter by mail both for the general and primary election in 2018.

President Trump also voted through mail in March during Florida’s Republican electorate, and he had a change of address from New York to Florida last year.

Trump clarified that there is a difference between polling by mail while living outside one’s main state address, and voting by mail while residing in the state where one is listed to vote.

In May, Tampa Bay Times reported that some other Trump administration and campaign staffers have also voted via mail, including White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany who already did 11 times from 2010.

Trump’s campaign leader, Brad Parscale, cast his vote through mail in 2018.

The president has frequently criticized voting by mail and made another comment against the process on Monday, claiming without basis that the ballots will be pre-made in other counties.
