WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • On Sunday, more than 100 vehicles drove at Fifth Avenue to express their support for President Donald Trump after contracting the coronavirus together with First Lady Melania Trump.
  • Supporters rallied in front of the Trump Tower as they blew their horns, waved their flags, and offered a prayer for the president.
  • Despite causing a traffic blockage at Fifth avenue, nobody from the caravan was arrested by the police.

Over 100 vehicles came out to Fifth Avenue in early Sunday as the latest show of support for President Donald Trump following his announcement that he and first lady Melania Trump contracted the coronavirus.

The caravan of Trump supporters stopped the traffic for at least half an hour as they loudly cheered for the president.

With loud chants of “four more years,” the caravan incessantly blew their horns and waved their flags in support of Trump’s second term. After some time, the group called for a moment of silence to pray.

“This is a serious situation — the leader of the free world is sick. The leader of the free world needs our support,” an organizer said over a loudspeaker. “Send some good energy to President Trump.”

After a moment of silence, the organizer shouted “President Trump, we love you!” Then he led the crowd in chanting “USA! USA!”

The president’s supporters rallied outside the Trump Tower, without wearing any face covering to avoid contracting the coronavirus, the reason why they were there to support Trump following his virus infection.

According to Jessica Marie Hahnan, a member of a major group called “The Long Island Loud Majority,” they assembled around 4 am in Ronkonkoma before coming to the city.

“I felt the love and energy today,” she told The Post, referring to the prayer vigil they had for the first couple. “Today the energy was electric. It was amazing — no chaos, no [middle] fingers, no drama, just supporting our president and our [men and women in] blue.”

Being at the Trump Tower felt “sentimental” since they were “praying for him,” Hahnan said. “I’m praying for every single person in this world … including President Trump, the First Lady and the whole administration.”

“I pray that my country comes together because we are divided right now. We should be standing together praying for our president and our First Lady. He is still a human being. He is 74 years old,” she said.

No arrests were made despite the road blockage caused by the Pro-Trump caravan. In recent weeks, police have restricted Black Lives Matter demonstrators and anti-eviction groups from halting the traffic.

Some rallies in support of Trump have taken place since he announced that he has COVID-19, one of which was held at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where the president stayed until Sunday.
