WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • White House Dr. Sean Conley issued a memo on Wednesday saying that President Donald Trump was doing okay and showing no symptoms.
  • Trump reported on Wednesday that he was symptomless for two days in a row after contracting the virus last week.
  • Conley regularly issues a memo to describe the president’s condition but did not provide further information about Trump’s chest scan results and how he was able to develop antibodies.

According to a memo released by the White House physician on Wednesday afternoon, President Donald Trump said that he was feeling great and has no symptoms after testing positive with COVID-19 last Thursday.

“The President this morning says ‘I feel great!’ His physical exam and vital signs, including oxygen saturation and respiratory rate, all remain stable and in normal range,” White House physician Sean Conley wrote in the memo.

“He’s now been fever-free for more than 4 days, symptom-free for over 24 hours, and has not needed nor received any supplemental oxygen since initial hospitalization,” he added.

Trump’s Monday lab results showed “demonstrated detectable levels” of COVID-19 antibodies, Conley also revealed.

Supposedly, Trump would receive his fifth and final dose of remdesivir on Tuesday. Over the weekend, his medical team announced that they were considering to continue his dexamethasone medication, a steroid used for curing inflammation, which has also been used on treating severe cases of coronavirus patients. In addition, he was injected with an experimental antibody cocktail developed by Regeneron last week.

On Wednesday, Trump reported having no symptoms for two consecutive days since he and first lady Melania Trump tested positive with the virus last week. The president returned to the White House on Monday evening after taking shelter at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center over the weekend.

The memo did not specify what treatment the president is undergoing and did not reveal why exactly he was able to develop antibodies that likely came from an experimental drug he was taking.

Without hosting any press conference since Monday, Conley opted to release memos from time to time to show the president’s health status. The physician provided vague answers when asked about Trump’s chest scan results and the timeline of his ailment, especially when he already tested negative for the virus.

On Sunday, Conley admitted that Trump was nursed with supplemental oxygen following a transient drop in his oxygen level.

In a recorded video shared on Monday, Trump told Americans not to fear the virus and let it “dominate” their lives. The president is eager to go back to normal and resume work as soon as possible despite contracting the virus.

Health experts were wary of his demeanor, like taking off his face mask, when he arrived at the White House, saying that minimizing the threat would pose more danger and send a wrong message to the public.
