Conservative media New York Post op-ed: Trump ‘unworthy’ to be US president again

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Conservative media outlet ‘The New York Post’ appears to be turning against former president Donald Trump.
  • The outlet’s editorial board on Friday wrote that Trump “has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.”
  • The Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid criticized Trump’s lack of action for 187 minutes during the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

The New York Post editorial board wrote a short but searing op-ed on Saturday, stating that there “is no defense” for former president Donald Trump’s “refusal to stop the violence” on Jan. 6, 2021. They also wrote that the former president “has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.”

In the 262-word editorial titled “Trump’s silence on Jan. 6 is damning“, the Post gives its opinion about the many layers of information brought to the surface by the committee investigating the events of the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. The piece gets right to the point, brief but scorching: Trump’s lack of action as he “sat in his private dining room, watching TV, doing nothing” for “three hours, seven minutes” while the US Capitol was stormed by his followers was “incitement by silence.”

“There has been much debate over whether Trump’s rally speech on Jan. 6, 2021, constituted ‘incitement,’” the editorial staff wrote. “That’s somewhat of a red herring. What matters more — and has become crystal clear in recent days — is that Trump didn’t lift a finger to stop the violence that followed.”

The Post pointed out that then-President Trump was the only person who could have stopped the insurrection because he was the only one the crowd was listening to.

“It was incitement by silence,” The Post wrote. “Trump only wanted one thing during that infamous afternoon: to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to decertify the election of Joe Biden. He thought the violence of his loyal followers would make Pence crack, or delay the vote altogether.”

Despite being advised by aides, advisers and even his children to tell the crowd to go home, what Trump did was “further fanned the flames.” He condemned then-VP Pence by tweeting that “he didn’t have the courage” to obey his demand to overturn the election.

“His only focus was to find any means — damn the consequences — to block the peaceful transfer of power,” The Post wrote. “There is no other explanation, just as there is no defense, for his refusal to stop the violence.”

It concluded: “It’s up to the Justice Department to decide if this is a crime. But as a matter of principle, as a matter of character, Trump has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.”

Also on Saturday, The Wall Street Journal‘s editorial board wrote in an editorial titled “The President Who Stood Still on Jan. 6,” that Trump has shown “not an iota of regret” about the events on January 6, 2021.

“Character is revealed in a crisis, and Mr. Pence passed his Jan. 6 trial,” the WSJ editorial concluded. “Mr. Trump utterly failed his.”

Billionaire Rupert Murdoch, a known Trump’s media ally, owns The New York Post, The Wall Street Journal, and the majority of Fox News Channel.

The Murdochs are Socialists out of the U.K. They hate Trump and financed Clinton’s campaign against him. They are totally behind this administration’s agenda to turn the U.S. against our Constitutution and ‘fundamentally change America’ as Obama called for. Fox News has turned left, also. It’s all insidious.

Exactly and to the point. In addition, Jan 6 was NOT an insurrection by any sane definition, it was entirely planned and executed by the Democrats and RINOs led by Pelosi. That the illegitimate Biden regime is holding political prisoners from Jan 6 is no different than communist China.

Absolutely, the insurrection was Pelosi not stopping the violence before it started.

Stop with the BS Trump is the front runner in all polls. It take’s one butt hole to say something about Trump, now a few more butt holes follow. This was the plan from the Jan. the 6 th fake panel all Democrats + two traitors from the Republican party that Pelosi hand picked. She did not want a Republican that liked Trump. There was no one to speak for Trump on the panel nor would they let anyone speak for him at any time. There for this is a fake panel and they can not say this was a legal panel. I think the people of America have had enough of this Congress run by Pelosi. All people want fair and just hearings they are sick of the squabbling all the time. Congress and the Senate need to work to solve problems or get the hell out of Washington.

People are entitled to their opinion. The Jan 6 show (Get Trump) performed by members of congress is a sham. Its not a trial, there is no defense. The president offered national guard on Jan 2. That’s a fact. This would have been over by the time national guard showed up if he did anything on Jan 6. We’re talking about a 2 hour period. The media’s opinion is based on a 1 sided of the story and there is no crime that DOJ can act on. There never was and these people in congress are wasting time and money when they could solving the problems their own terrible policies caused.

When I used to hire people, I didn’t base by decision on the applicant’s personality, I based it on their potential to do the job I needed done. Trump has a brusque personality but he has already proven he can get the job done. We don’t need people who lie to us and tell us what a good job they are doing. We need someone to tell us the truth and do the job right.

Nice – I did the same when I hired employees. The *best* diversity was getting the best qualified employees for the job and the benefit was a wonderful mix of personalities. We didn’t give a sh*t about race or creed or where you were from. We all shared the mission we were there to accomplish. And yes, that worked.

Ken well said . May I add that the SWAMP of Washington needs to keep the sham going to hide the evil being and past acts covered up. They need those who shouldn’t vote or easily confused from the true facts.

It would be a different story if the people that testified against him weren’t staunch supporters before he did what he did and didn’t do what he took a oath to do.
I’m still amazed that the fact that one of his first acts when he took office was to make it so a sitting president couldn’t be prosecuted… I think he started stacking his minions at that time with full knowledge that he would one day be in need to stay in office or go to prison…
Who did he visit that stood out the most ? He wants to be in that “SUPREME LEADER GANG SO BAD THAT IT SEEMS THAT HE WAS TAKEING “COMMUNISM 101 COURSES FROM PUTIN ,KIM,
AND XI. Now would be a good time to find out what they were talking about when Trump would talking to them without the American interperters present… Just sayin…

      July 26, 2022 at 10:32 am

Respectfully, you’re wrong D.D. President Trump never made an “act” to protect a sitting president as you claim. That a sitting president cannot be criminally prosecuted (or even indicted) while in office comes from the DOJ in 1973 during Nixon’s presidency. Look it up. Only Congress may remove a sitting president through impeachment, which of course the Democrats tried more than once by making up false charges.

During World War II, communist agents were busy trying to instill their communist contingents into Governmental agencies/offices. Senator McCarthy did his best to identify and imprison influential “citizens” who were furthering the cause of communism, but too many of the bleeding heart senators thought that McCarthy was too brutal. They stopped Mc Carthy’s quest, and in so doing, they allowed communism to spread deeply into the Democrat Party. The educational teachers/professors were either infiltrated or heavily influenced by communism. Kids ranging from kindergarten to and including colleges and universities were taught to think communistic concepts. As decades passed, the intensity of communist educators increased. Important educational matters such as history, geography, mathematics (without calculators), and true philosophy, were slowly diminished to about zero. People of my generation and those who followed, desired to make things better for their kids than when they were kids. Now look what we have throughout our Nation. We have adults who have no idea what World War I or II was about or where the action occurred; they know little or nothing about how our Nation won its freedom from England; few remember or know anything about the Wars in Korea and Vietnam; a huge percentage of our citizens who were born in 1950 or thereafter, don’t know what it is like to have to actually work and earn a living and have food to eat every meal. Yet, because they were educated by communist-inspired educators to change our democracy into a socialistic and a follow on communistic lifestyle, the sanity of far too many elected politicians now contribute immensely to the downfall of the USA as it was regarded worldwide before 2020. Millions of citizens who are supporters of the Democrat Party, do not have the mental capacity to understand under rule of the Democrat Party, they will become only a myriad of voiceless peasants. The only hope the USA has of terminating the growth of socialism and communism in its government is to elect Republican candidates in 2022 and 2024. The road to recovery from what Biden and his minions have done by destroying our Nation will be long, difficult, but absolutely promising – if led by the Republicans. Think twice, no thrice before you vote in the next elections. Do you not want peace and freedom?

Very thoughtful and restrained response, Mr. Robert E. Altee. I was born in 1937 and grew up in a very different USA from what I see today. It’s a shame. Donald Trump was the best president of my lifetime, and I’ll eagerly vote for him yet a third time should he stand for President again. I would not, however, vote for Pence, who threw Trump under the bus by posting the results of a badly flawed 2020 election, cheating Trump of his well-deserved second term. We never needed to go through the feckless Biden administration had Pence had any backbone.

Robert, I will accept your opinion on WW 1& 2,but as for Korean and Vietnam Wars were never ours to be involved in . I will support OUR SOLIDERS who fought and died there , but their and OUR involvement should never have been. We bailed out the FRENCH in Nam as for Korea not sure who really to blame. AS most wars the only true winner is the manufacturers of military weapons and equipment.

Here’s a thought I have had for a while now – did DJT really try to get the vote decertified (it hadn’t been yet) or merely delayed until some of the discrepancies (fake votes etc.) were resolved. Seems to me there is a big difference between the two. Of course if any court had actually looked at the evidence that was already known – and not simply ‘decided’ that NONE of the judicial filings had ‘standing’ – it is possible the final outcome might have been different.

“NOBODY” should have priority over anyone else to receive life-saving medical help of any kind ! When it’s commonly known how this disease is spread, people Everywhere need to follow safety protocol…
I’ll bet people that have drug addictions are at the top of the heap AMOUNG those who get infected. Should they be treated differently because they’re not gay or aren’t if a specific nationality ?
Apparently people from South America are the people hit worst. Could that be do to the “Fact” that hundreds of thousands of poverty stricken people that had no medical help whatsoever before they got here ? This system we have now is BROKEN and really needs to be fixed !!!

People are putting far too much into what the former guy has to say or try to do…
It’s a no brainer; That ELECTION WAS NO MORE RIGGED THAN BIDEN IS SOME KIND OF GREAT HUMANITARRIAN… NEITHER IS TRUE !!! When all they have to go on for proof of the contrary is how many fools they can get to believe in a movie called 2,000 mules, it’s easy to see why the people that are still hanging into the a fable are being laughed out of court…
DaSantas is already looking better than Trump and the fact that he’s having such a hard time with 22 it looks pretty bleak for the GOP IN 24.
Biden isn’t doing a bang up job either but it looks like we’re in for another presidential election that won’t be base on qualifications or politics but on whoever the least liked among the 2incumbants might be; just like last time…

Just lately I have begun seeing & hearing a few of this headlines that Trump’s popularity is waning or that the conservatives feel he is “Unworthy to be President again” only to drive down the road or highway and even in my own neighborhood and see sign after sign of houses, on cars, on people and U.S. Flags saying Trump 2024, Trump U.S.A. & God Bless American & Make it Great Again! Make’s me wonder who is really behind these things & headlines. Who is funding & behind them? Soros? Hillary? Obama’s? Pelosi? Or any one of the other Rino’s who are terrified of Trump firing them or finishing draining the swamp with all of them “IN IT!” God isn’t nearly done with His Purpose for utilizing the President He Himself Chose & Ordained to Get the Job Done & Completed!!! Even after the Fake News, the Endless Attacks & Stolen Election, Trump still got us to the place of finally seeing Roe-v-Wade Overturned in our Nation. Still Keeping Promises & so many more still to come! No one is ready to move on day #1, right out of the gate to accomplish so much at record pace as President Trump 2024 with God watching His back & Our Nation for Great things to come!!! Thank you Heavenly Father for Blessing Our Nation when we Place You at the Helm of Our Nation with leaders you give us! We will not miss the evil leaders who cheated & stole their way into power, nor the devil they love & serve “AT ALL!!!”
