New Poll Exposes Most Hated Senators

Clear Facts

  • Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is the most unpopular senator with a 65% disapproval rating.
  • Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) follow with 50% and 49% disapproval ratings, respectively.
  • Republicans hold the top three spots for most unpopular senators, according to a Morning Consult Pro poll.

A new poll by data analysis company Morning Consult Pro reveals the most unpopular United States senators among voters, with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) topping the list.

The poll surveyed voters from all 50 states and found that 65% of voters disapprove of the Kentucky Republican’s job performance, while 29% approve.

McConnell was previously named the most unpopular senator in January and again in July, with about three out of five Kentucky voters expressing disapproval in the latter.

Following McConnell, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) holds a 50% disapproval rating, with 44% of voters approving of her performance. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) ranks third among unpopular senators, with a 49% to 39% disapproval to approval score, respectively.

According to the poll, Republicans have the three most unpopular senators in the nation.

The fourth place spot goes to Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), with 48% of voters disapproving and 42% supporting him. The survey was conducted from August to October, before Manchin announced earlier this month that he won’t run for reelection next year.

The red-state Democrat’s retirement from the Senate has fueled speculation over whether he plans on launching a third-party presidential bid.

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) falls directly behind Manchin, with 46% disapproving and 36% approving. Menendez was indicted on accusations of accepting bribes and conspiring to act as a foreign agent of Egypt.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges, alongside his wife, who was also indicted, in federal court in October. Despite multiple calls for him to step down and new challengers emerging, the senior senator has not said he will resign or hold off on a reelection bid.

Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), Joni Ernst (R-IA), and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) are tied at a 45% disapproval ranking, holding 40%, 42%, and 44% approval rankings, respectively.

Forty-four percent disapprove to 45% approve of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who has ranked among the most unpopular senators for years, as surveyed by Morning Consult. However, Graham has dropped to ninth place after being among the top five least popular lawmakers in the July report.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) ranks as the most unpopular freshman senator in tenth place. He made headlines this fall after pushing back against a dress code in the Senate, which was temporarily relaxed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) before he reversed the decision.

Clear Thoughts

The recent Morning Consult Pro poll revealing Republicans as the top three most unpopular senators is hardly surprising.

As the Democrats push their progressive agenda, it’s no wonder that GOP stalwarts like Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, and Ron Johnson face disapproval. However, let’s not forget that Joe Manchin, a Democrat, is close behind in fourth place, with Bob Menendez and his indictment scandal not far off.

While the media may focus on the Republicans’ unpopularity, it’s crucial to recognize that dissatisfaction with politicians isn’t confined to a single party.

Voters are demanding change, and it’s time for both sides to step up.

The trouble with polls is that the pollsters can engineer the results by controlling which people are polled. The article only claims that voters from 50 states were surveyed, but it does break down the demographics any farther than that so we don’t know the proportion of liberal vs conservative voters or the age groups. Even when pollsters try to use fair practices to get accurate results, many people refuse to participate. Many conservatives in particular are afraid of being ‘canceled’ for stating opinions and beliefs that are contrary to the progressive liberal narrative.

Notice : Why not list the most hated Dumocrats–I would bet the list would be to long to print. As all Dumocrats are liars and cheaters

These “ polls” so beloved by all media outlets are immediately suspicious because no matter what the topic if it is about popular vs unpopular, guilty vs innocent, loved vs hated, the invariable negative votes condemn Republicans. I suspect that the poll takers stood outside college dorms or faculty lounges to get the answers their outlets demanded they get. It would be interesting to find out if anyone reading this article ever participated in a poll.

I agree with Beverly. Lets toss them all out and then search the population for independent voters. Draft them to be in congress with their approval. They will work for the people not themselves

Where is Warnock? He should be in top 4 or 4. If unpopularity was based on number of lies told there wouldn’t be any room for Republicans.

Key word, POPULAR. obviously written from a socialist point of view. When the media is part of a political party, what chance of the old fashioned indifferent veiw towards any subject could you expect? It’s really about control.
    Remember. Never waste a crisis.

I agree with Jeremy above. The polls report unfairly, based on the political leanings of the polling organization(s). Just as the mainstream media is completely owned and run by bought-and-sold progressive jackasses, the pollsters are predominantly left-leaning, so their results are meaningless. It reminds me of the old joke about how you can tell if a politician is lying. Answer: His (or her) lips are moving.

Polls like these and the alleged respondents who participated in the poll are not to be trusted. Bottom line is this: There are plenty of politicians who are only interested in having power and enriching themselves much like idiot Biden and family who sell out America to the Chinese at every chance and the opposing party is fine with the corruption in DC. Democrat voters keep their eyes closed to the Biden family crime because they fear President Trump.

Mitch McConnell is mulling over another run in 2026. He will be 84 years-old at that point. Recently reelected Governor, Steve Beshear is licking his chops in anticipation of a Senate run against McConnell. If he does run, he will be difficult to beat. If McConnell is the nominee, it’s a mathematical certainty that he will win, probably by 15 or 20 points. It’s not that Beshear is a great alternative! He has proven to be a dedicated surrogate for the Biden agenda. Trump won Kentucky by 28 points in 2020. This is a seat Republicans can hold! There are a number of good candidate options. The issue is getting McConnell to retire. He loves his power! It’s not about his party or his Commonwealth!
