WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has issued a petition for a grand jury investigation on any “wrongdoing” related to the COVID-19 vaccines.
  • DeSantis also launched Florida’s own Public Health Integrity Committee due to growing distrust of the CDC.
  • The governor remarked that pro-vaccine companies and individuals have been pushing their own narratives “for financial gain.”

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has called on his state’s Supreme Court to convince a grand jury to investigate alleged “crimes and wrongdoing” linked to COVID-19 vaccines.

DeSantis held a roundtable discussion with researchers, physicians, and victims of “adverse events from mRNA vaccines.”

On Tuesday, he announced that it is time to take “aggressive action.”

The petition for the grand jury investigation stated, “The federal government, medical associations, and other experts have created an expectation that receiving a COVID-19 vaccine is an ethical or civic duty and that choosing not to get vaccinated against COVID-19 is selfish and harmful to others.”

According to the petition, pro-vaccine companies and individuals pushed these views “for financial gain.”

The governor’s office also set up its own Public Health Integrity Committee due to growing distrust of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

DeSantis remarked that the CDC has made so many conflicting statements that at this point, it is just assumed that anything they say is no longer noteworthy. He continued, “It’s not serving a useful function. It’s really serving to advance narratives.”

The Florida committee is tasked to review federal recommendations for public health, with direction from the state’s surgeon general, to make sure that “Florida’s public health policies are tailored for Florida’s communities.”

Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo is also set to conduct “autopsy surveillance” to investigate so-called “sudden deaths” in individuals who received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Critics of DeSantis called him out for completely changing his tune after previously supporting the vaccine. They claimed that he is only distancing himself from former President Donald Trump, who helped oversee and fast-track the early distribution of vaccines.
