Former Assistant Alleges Control by Disgraced Michigan Coach

Clear Facts
- Paige Shiver, a former assistant at Michigan, described her affair with former head coach Sherrone Moore as controlling and career-threatening.
- Shiver revealed she terminated a pregnancy during the relationship after medical advice related to her muscle-weakening Pompe disease.
- Moore received 18 months of probation after a plea deal reduced initial charges of home invasion and stalking to trespassing.
Former Michigan football assistant Paige Shiver spoke out Friday regarding her relationship with disgraced coach Sherrone Moore.
She described a dynamic where Moore used his professional authority to maintain an affair that began during her internship.
Shiver stated she initially believed she loved the coach but now realizes his influence over her career created a trap.
She claimed Moore repeatedly pressured her to stay by asserting his life would crumble without her presence.
“He and other coaches had control over my career, especially him,” Shiver said.
“He could fire me in a second.”
Economic and professional consequences followed the report of the affair to university officials, resulting in Moore losing his $5.5 million-a-year position.
Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel cited the inappropriate relationship as the primary cause for the termination.
Following his firing, Moore allegedly broke into Shiver’s residence and threatened self-harm, leading to his arrest.
While Shiver believes the subsequent legal punishment was insufficient, Moore is now serving probation and is barred from contacting her.
“I think he should have gotten more punishment for what he did,” she said.
