WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • President Donald Trump’s former United Nations’ Ambassador Nikki Haley lambasted Democratic presidential nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party during her Republican National Convention address on Monday night.
  • Haley’s speech mainly focused on criticizing Biden while lauding Trump’s accomplishments at the White House.
  • She also defended Trump over his handling of racial injustice in the country.

During the Republican National Convention on Monday, Nikki Haley told the assembly that the Trump-Haley tandem has accomplished what former President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden were not able to do on a global scale.

According to Haley, Democrats’ remark that “America is racist” may be “fashionable” but it’s still “lie.”

Giving her address from Washington DC, Trump’s former ambassador to the United Nations further said: “We did what Barack Obama and Joe Biden refused to do. We stood up for America. And we stood against our enemies.”

Haley’s address primarily revolved on criticizing Biden and the Democratic party while commending the current administration.

“Joe Biden and the Democrats are still blaming America first,” she said. “Donald Trump has always put America first.”

“This president has a record of strength and success,” the former South Carolina governor continued. “The former vice president has a record of weakness and failure. Joe Biden is good for Iran and ISIS, great for Communist China, and he’s a godsend to everyone who wants America to apologize, abstain, and abandon our values.”

“Joe Biden and the socialist left would be a disaster for our economy. But President Trump is leading a new era of opportunity,” she added.

Haley then proceeded with her speech to defend her former boss’ handling of racism cases.

“He knows that political correctness and ‘cancel culture’ are dangerous and just plain wrong,” she said. “In much of the Democratic Party, it’s now fashionable to say that America is racist. That is a lie. America is not a racist country.”

Tracing back her parents’ origin from India, Haley said that the issue was nothing short of “personal” to her. She said that both Trump and the GOP “are committed to that noble task,” when it comes to fighting racial injustice in the US.

She ended her speech by endorsing both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, whom she only mentioned once.

“We must choose the only candidate who has and who will continue delivering on that vision. President Trump and Vice President Pence have my support,” Haley said. “And America has our promise. We will build on the progress of our past and unlock the promise of our future. That future starts when the American people re-elect President Donald Trump.”

In 2018, Haley quickly turned down the rumors that she would replace Vice President Mike Pence in the 2020 ticket when she quit her job as the American ambassador to the UN.
