A routine food order dispute at a Detroit chicken restaurant escalated into a violent assault that left a young employee hospitalized and two sisters facing serious criminal charges.
Brianna Long, 29, and Kierianna Long, 26, are accused of a brutal attack on a 23-year-old restaurant worker after receiving an incorrect order on May 30. The charges against them include assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to prosecutors, the sisters entered the restaurant and immediately went behind the counter to confront the employee. What followed was a sustained attack that moved throughout the establishment.
The sisters allegedly threw multiple items at the worker, including pots and pans, and attempted to throw hot grease on her head. During the assault, one of the sisters reportedly made a direct threat.
“I’m going to kill you,” one sister allegedly said during the encounter.
The attack culminated when Kierianna Long allegedly stabbed the employee in the stomach with a knife. The injured worker managed to escape the restaurant and took refuge in a stranger’s vehicle while calling for help.
The victim required emergency surgery for her injuries. Meanwhile, both sisters fled the scene but were later apprehended by Detroit police.
Defense attorneys have presented a different narrative of the events. They argue that the employee initiated the confrontation by dismissing the food order complaint with profanity and throwing items, including knives, first.
The case has drawn additional attention due to Brianna Long’s condition at the time of the incident. She was nine months pregnant during the alleged assault and gave birth just four days before her arraignment.
During court proceedings, Brianna appealed to the judge, asserting her innocence and mentioning her newborn child at home. Despite her plea, the court set her bond at $25,000 cash.
Kierianna Long faces a higher bond of $100,000 cash, reflecting prosecutors’ allegation that she was the one who wielded the knife. Both sisters have entered not guilty pleas to all charges.
The incident highlights growing concerns about workplace violence, particularly in service industry settings where employees often face confrontational situations with minimal protection. The severity of the charges reflects prosecutors’ view that this went far beyond a simple dispute over food.
The case remains under investigation as both sisters await their day in court. The victim continues to recover from her injuries.
