The parents of the 15-year-old suspect in a Michigan high school shooting were taken into custody early Saturday after a manhunt.

James and Jennifer Crumbley were found inside a commercial building, where “they appeared to be hiding,” Detroit Police Department Chief James E. White said. He added that “someone had let them inside. That person could be charged.”

In an earlier statement, Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe said that the building owner in Detroit called 911 to report that the couple’s vehicle was in his parking lot.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald announced Friday that the Crumbleys had been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter in the attack Tuesday. Four students at Oxford High School were killed.

The suspect allegedly used a handgun officials said was bought by his father days earlier.

James and Jennifer Crumbley’s lawyers had indicated the couple had agreed to arrange their arrest if charges were filed. When they could not be reached when the charges were announced, it set off a manhunt.

The couple’s lawyers insisted thet they had not fled but had left town the night after the shooting “for their own safety.”

The Crumbleys withdrew $4,000 from their bank account on Friday for reasons that weren’t immediately known.

Late Friday, the U.S. Marshals Service released wanted posters and announced rewards of up to $10,000 for information leading to their arrest.

James and Jennifer Crumbley will be taken to the Oakland County jail and could be arraigned later Saturday morning, McCabe said.

The county sheriff has said that James Crumbley purchased the gun used in the violence just days before the school shooting. McDonald said the pair were made aware of disturbing, violent images on the day of the shooting and were urged to get him counseling.

Ethan Crumbley, has been charged as an adult with four counts of first-degree murder, one count of terrorism causing death, seven counts of assault with intent to murder, and 12 counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
