President Donald Trump’s campaign in Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday night resulted in chaos after thousands of supporters got stranded overnight. Several people were brought to the hospital after getting hypothermia because of the freezing weather.

As they left their cars in designated parking lots, supporters were bussed into the Eppley Airfield site to attend the event. After the rally which ended at 9pm, thousands were left as some opted to walk for over four miles because of insufficient buses.

“President Trump took off in Air Force One 1 hr 20 minutes ago, but thousands of his supporters remain stranded on a dark road outside the rally,” CNN reporter Jeff Zeleny tweeted at 10:21 pm CDT.

“It’s hundreds and hundreds of people who came on buses ━ forced to park miles away ━ who were stranded,” Zeleny added.

The CNN reporter called the situation a “chaotic cluster.” Omaha police officials were overwhelmed with the thousands of people who were stranded as they find ways on how to transport them back to their vehicle parking.

“Parking at the Trump rally is full,” Omaha Police Department tweeted just after 6 pm.

“Shuttles will no longer be transporting people to the event. You will not be able to access the rally by foot, Uber, or any other means of transportation. Parking is not allowed in surrounding neighborhoods, roadways, or businesses.”

“Officers picking up people wandering in the cold unable to locate their vehicles and are taking them to various parking lots,” local news provider Omaha Scanner reported through Twitter.

“Officers who do not have an assignment are going around to parking lots to pick up stranded people and attempt to locate their vehicles. Airport maintenance vehicles also assisting,” the outlet added.

Medics have accommodated those who needed immediate attention, especially elderly people.

“Waterloo Medic 811 en route to Lil’ Creighton Code 2 with a 68 y/o male whose initial complaint was possible hypothermia and altered mental status. He is alert and oriented and shivering,”

Around 11 pm, Omaha Scanner said that around a few thousand are still stranded, and authorities were continuously checking those individuals who got sick because of the cold.

Chicago Tribune columnist Rex Huppke condemned Trump because of the fiasco.

“If you aren’t paying attention to this absolute s**show in Omaha in the wake of Trump’s rally, you should be. They bussed supporters in then effectively left them to walk several miles in the cold back to their cars. This is Trump in a nutshell,” he tweeted.

Parking lots were finally cleared by 1 am.
