Following several US companies that joined the movement of encouraging Americans to get the COVID-19 vaccination shot, United Airlines (UAL) announced on Monday that it would launch a contest in which the winner could enjoy one full year with free flights.

Starting May 24 up to June 22, customers may proceed to the airline’s mobile app or website and input “Your Shot to Fly ” sweepstakes through uploading their vaccination record. The company will grant 30 pairs of tickets next month.

Come July 1st, the airline will randomly pick five MileagePlus members who participated in the contest and will be given the grand prize of free travel for a year with another companion. Winners will have the freedom to choose any service type and whatever location they would want across the world.

In a press release, United CEO Scott Kirby said that they were proud to take part in providing benefits to people in order to motivate them to secure getting shots.

“Thanks to the vaccine, more and more destinations are opening up for travel and we know our customers are eager to fly. We’re excited to give people one more reason to get vaccinated so they can reunite with friends and family or take that long-awaited vacation which could be just one shot away,” he added.

The company was the latest private entity to join the crusade of convincing Americans to get injected with the COVID-19 vaccine. Previously, other companies like Krispy Kreme, Lyft, McDonald’s, OkCupid, Shake Shack and Uber had also offered incentives to entice customers on getting the shots.

As the world copes up with the pandemic brought about by the coronavirus, governments have beefed up their inoculations campaigns to expedite social and economic recovery.

According to the tracking by Our World in Data, over 286 million doses have been administered in the US, with 130 million fully-vaccinated Americans as of Sunday. In total, roughly about 40 percent of the nation’s population had been given the shots.
