California to ban sales of gas-powered vehicles by 2035
- State regulators in California voted to ban the sales of all new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035.
- Future interim goals included aiming for 35% of new cars sold to produce zero emissions by 2026, and 68% by 2030.
- The move aims to address the leading causes of greenhouse gases while encouraging the shift to electric vehicles.
California continues its battle against the climate crisis, with state regulators voting to ban all new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035.
Thursday’s vote aims to tackle some of the largest culprits of polluting carbon emissions: vehicles that run on gasoline. Regulators hope that the move will encourage the shift to battery-electric and hydrogen-electric vehicles.
The new rule states that all new vehicles sold in the state by 2035 should not emit greenhouse gases. The California Air Resources Board also set interim goals for future years, aiming for 35% of new cars sold to produce zero emissions by 2026, and 68% by 2030.
Gasoline-powered vehicles will not be completely out of the picture, however. Drivers can still continue using previously owned gas-powered vehicles and purchase used gas-powered vehicles. The sale of new hybrid gas-electric vehicles is also allowed.
During the first three months of this year, about 16% of cars sold in California were electric, the Associated Press reported. The AP report also stated that California provided over $1 billion in rebates for the sale of 478,000 electric, plug-in, or hybrid vehicles throughout the past 12 years.
The state must still ensure expanded access to electric charging stations to meet the requirements of the new rule. Congress passed a $1-trillion infrastructure bill last year, with directives on building charging stations every 50 miles along interstate highways. Still, the state will need to spend billions more to have a fully reliable charging network. Gov. Gavin Newsom hopes to prioritize low-income neighborhoods when adding stations.
Newsom declared on Wednesday, “The climate crisis is solvable if we focus on the big, bold steps necessary to stem the tide of carbon pollution.”
Unprecedented events and extreme weather have renewed the focus of shifting to electric grids. California hopes that it has set a precedent for other states to follow.

Reasonable? When the damned power grid goes down here ( in California) very often and for weeks at a time… now, when we have only 16% EVs? What will it do when we have millions more to plug into the grid? You can’t just dream and make sweeping laws. You have to have a feasible plan. That’s the difference between success and California. Who’ll take the rap when electric car drivers notice that their battery life has declined to a useless few miles, go to the Tesla dealer and find out they have to shell out $20k to get a new battery to power their $60k car that’s now worth $8k!

The government was giving an 8K credit, so the car manufacturers just raised the cost 8K. Now everyone has to pay full price for a pos that only goes less than 200 miles on a tank. Mileage decreases if towing. Nothing like being stranded out in the middle of nowhere with a dead car. No thanks!!

Batteries for electric vehicles do wear out and (1) are very expensive to replace, but worse (2) they are full of hazardous, NON-biodegradable materials which will poison our good earth. E-vehicles are not a good idea in the long run. And neither are windmills that are killing hundreds of birds and ruin the landscape. Solar panels might do on roof tops, but covering our good earth with solar panel “farms” is akin to suffocating the earth they cover. Our earth is better for farming – animals and plant-life.
Time to think natural gas, hydro-power and nuclear power for our energy. In the meantime, keep our gasoline vehicles and gas stations. We will always have “climate change” – it’s been in our world since the beginning of time. Just for a quick reference, every time there is a “record high” or “record low” day, read the fine print and discover that the same “record” was reached 30 to a hundred years ago, and before that. Greenland at one time experienced a very mild climate.

If everyone else did, we wouldn’t have any threat of catastrophic “climate change.” Fools believe in manmade “climate change.” I know climate is changing, BECAUSE we have forgotten how to FOLLOW The One Who causes climate!!!

C02 is a life giving trace gas. Plants convert it to Oxygen! We are made of Carbon! The argument that C02 is raising the earths temp is a gigantic LIE.

Our sun is and always has been the elephant in the room that influences our climate, and right now, despite the official narrative, we are cooling. The low solar output is exerting less pressure on us causing the jet stream to become very wavy , thus the extreme temperature swings. They have been cooking the books on record keeping too. This is typical California nonsense. The power grid is in serious trouble already, both from the loss of hydroelectric power resulting from the drought, ageing conventional power plants and far underproducing “renewable” wind and solar power production. When you add all of these “charging stations”, either commercial or home, the huge increase in power demand will crash the grid. I guess a lot of folks will learn to walk again. Also, with loss of customers and sales, existing gas stations will gradually go out of business. Heavy loads decrease both the power and range of electric vehicles. The inevitable loss of conventional refueling facilities will further impact on heavy haul trucking, farm equipment and the use of gas generators used to back up power systems. Existing technology is not sufficient to store energy during periods of over production, so when we have severe weather or darkness, it will really be dark. All of this is a huge formula for disaster.

In 1958 NASA observed that the Earths orbit and axis had changed. In 2000 NASA issued a report on this but it was never found in the public domain. This examination was based on the “Milankovitch Climate Theory” that the Earths climate would be changed do to this. The Earths axis over the last century+ has changed by 1.4% as well as the orbit around the Sun. The eccentricity of the Earths orbit has changed .017 degrees, meaning the Earth is 5 million kilometers CLOSER to the Sun at perihelion than at aphelion. There is absolutely NOTHING mankind can do to change either and that is WHY the climate has changed, not CO2. Historically the CO2 levels have been higher 90% of the time of Earths existence than they are today.

This is insane as CO2 does not heat the atmosphere. It is a very small part and 96.3% is natural. What we do with our 3.7% contribution is of no consequence. This should be good for auto dealers in Arizona and Nevada. Of course, knowing the Dumbocrats in California, no new gas or diesel cars will be allowed to cross the state line. But people who still own older cars will need gasoline or their lives will come to a halt. If California converts all its gas stations to electric charging stations, they’ll just have more brownouts and blackouts than they already have. Do we really think there aren’t enough savvy people living there to put a stop to this nonsense?
