Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, is making his first ever foray into the world of politics. The 18-year-old has been chosen by the Florida Republican Party to serve as one of the state’s at-large delegates for the upcoming Republican National Convention.
This moment marks a significant step for Barron, a high school senior set to graduate next week. He now joins his older siblings, Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka, and Tiffany, as a player in the realm of Republican politics.
“Donald Trump Jr., Eric, and the former president’s youngest daughter Tiffany will also be among the 41 RNC delegates from Florida,” marking that the Trump family continues to remain highly involved in the political scene of the Republican Party.
A Trump campaign official confirmed, “Barron is on the delegation roster and … is very interested in our nation’s political process.”
This active engagement of the Trump family in politics also extends to the state level. Florida GOP Chair Evan Power expressed his optimism regarding the upcoming convention and the party’s prospects, stating, “The (Republican Party of Florida) is ready for a great convention in Milwaukee, but more importantly, we are excited as we continue to lay the groundwork in Florida for success. Mark my words, we are going to win and we will win big in November!”
Barron Trump was recently thrust into the public eye following his father’s legal proceedings in New York. Requests were made by Trump’s lawyers to allow Trump a day off to attend Barron’s upcoming graduation ceremony, which is set for Friday, May 17.
The Trump family’s involvement in politics occurs alongside various legal challenges. The former President is currently navigating multiple civil and criminal trials that have affected his children as well.
In the New York civil business fraud case involving Trump, his children Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka had to testify last year. The New York Democratic Attorney General sought punishment for allegations of inflating net worth and financial statements against Trump and his organization. The Trump Organization, founded by the former president’s father, is currently operated by Don Jr. and Eric. Ivanka left her leadership position within the organization when she took on an advisory role in her father’s White House.
The Republican National Convention is slated to occur from July 15-18 in Milwaukee, marking an important event for the GOP and the Trump family.
