WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The U.S. Capitol Police will start an internal investigation after its officers failed to monitor surveillance camera images of an intruder breaking into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco home.
  • The intruder violently attacked her husband, Paul, while the Speaker was in Washington, D.C.
  • Lawmakers increased funding for the USCP in July 2021 following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

The U.S. Capitol Police on Wednesday admitted they were not actively monitoring cameras at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco home when they captured a break-in. The intruder violently attacked her husband, Paul while the Speaker was in Washington, D.C.

In a statement, the agency confirmed earlier reports by The Washington Post and The New York Times that Capitol Police began responding to the incident minutes later after an employee in the agency’s command center noticed the camera feed showing police activity at the home.

Authorities say David DePape, 42, broke into the home before dawn on Friday morning looking for the Speaker, looking to break her kneecaps if she “lied.”

After he allegedly found Paul Pelosi and learned the Speaker was not home, her husband went into the bathroom and called 911.

Upon local police’s arrival, DePape, who is accused of attempted murder and other charges, allegedly struck Pelosi with a hammer. The Capitol Police employee then noticed the activity on a screen showing the camera feed sometime afterward, according to the agency’s statement.

Capitol Police said its policy is to only monitor the residence’s cameras — some of the 1,800 the agency has access to — around the clock when the Speaker is there.

“While the Speaker was with her security detail in Washington, D.C., the San Francisco cameras were not actively monitored as they are when the Speaker is at the residence,” the agency said. “The Command Center personnel noticed the police activity on the screen and used the feeds to monitor the response and assist investigators.”

But the Capitol Police announced on Wednesday that they had begun an internal security review following the attack, which became the latest incident to raise fresh questions about lawmaker security.

Lawmakers increased funding for the agency in July of last year following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and as the Capitol Police responded to an increasing barrage of threats against individual lawmakers that has only continued to rise since.

Capitol Police should have NO jurisdiction at any politicians home. That should be private security. Pelosi’s home is most decidedly NOT the Capitol! This is abuse of power.

I agree. But, murderous treasonous democrats have double standards. Their day will come. Karma can be a bitch and I won’t have to lift a finger. They are already shooting themselves in the foot and having fellett of soul.

Hmmm. Not “actively monitoring” the security cameras, which surely must mean they were working better than the cameras on Epstein’s jail cell, so release the freaking video of the break-in! No way that’s not recorded. And release the PD body cam videos. This cover up is even more obvious than the special treatment get-out-of-jail-free Paul Pelosi got on his DUI accident.

The entire event is kinky. Security at the home not monitored by Secret Service and or Capitol police? City police arrive in time to witness the hammer assault on Pelosi and not use deadly force to prevent Pelosi from being struck 2- 3 -4 times with a hammer?? Really……

Somehow, I fail to see the overall problem with them paying for their own security if they want it. How far down the line do we go with paid protection by taxpayers? These people are not the president and no matter who they are or what side of the fence they are on there is always someone that can step into their job even though they may not think so. No one should have to put up with violence of any kind.

Here’s a thought, did anyone see an ambulance come to pick up the badly injured Paul Pelosi? I can’t imagine that a ride on a gurney with an EMT monitoring your vitals wouldn’t be the best thing for a guy with a skull fractured by a hammer blow.
