Princess Diana’s trusted hairdresser Sam McKnight criticized what he called “nasty comments” directed at Kate Middleton’s recent change in hairstyle.
After the Princess of Wales appeared with blonde hair at a London event, McKnight voiced his support on Instagram and decried what he saw as an outpouring of unsympathetic remarks.
“I am shocked, horrified, dismayed and disgusted by all the nasty comments about the Princess of Wales today. A woman’s hair is very personal to her, it’s armour, defence, confidence and so much more,” McKnight wrote on Instagram.
He went on, “I cannot believe how evil and lacking in any kind of empathy are the comments, the majority made apparently by other women, attacking a vulnerable other young woman, who has no choice, by dint of who she married, and the role she took on, to bravely face the public.”
McKnight referenced Middleton’s public struggle with cancer and praised her for representing the nation quietly and responsibly. He urged critics to stop the commentary, emphasizing the impact of her health battle.
“She has brilliantly and quietly, unselfishly represented our country, the soft power we still have as a nation. Cancer affects individuals differently, but is life-changing for everyone. So FFS LEAVE HER ALONE. SHAME ON YOU,” McKnight concluded.
Kate Middleton publicly shared her cancer diagnosis earlier in 2024, later announcing she was cancer-free and in remission, describing the experience as a challenge for herself and her family while expressing hope for the future.
McKnight also recalled working with Princess Diana and recounted a moment when the late princess trusted his judgement for a new hairstyle, a tradition Kate seems to continue.

People have negative comments about everything and everyone for they are unhappy people!
That being said as a former cancer survivor I totally get why Kate would like to refreshe her appearance and change things for you want to erase the disabled you and start new as if reborn!

I applaud Kate for her caring attitude and her freedom from cancer. She’s a real star as far as I’m concerned; much too nice to be stuck with the so-called “royal family”.
