WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The office of Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman confirmed that he checked into Walter Reed to be treated for clinical depression.
  • His chief of staff said that after experiencing severe depression, the senator was advised to undergo inpatient care.
  • The senator agreed to receive treatment and “is getting the care he needs.”

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman (D) checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Wednesday night to receive treatment for clinical depression, his chief of staff, Adam Jentleson, confirmed.

Jentleson explained that the senator “has experienced depression off and on throughout his life.” But it has become “severe in recent weeks,” so on Monday, he underwent evaluation by Dr. Brian P. Monahan, the Attending Physician of the United States Congress.

When the doctor “recommended inpatient care at Walter Reed,” Fetterman “agreed” and voluntarily received treatment. Jentleson added, “After examining John, the doctors at Walter Reed told us that John is getting the care he needs, and will soon be back to himself.”

The senator’s wife, Gisele Barreto Fetterman, said she was “proud of him for asking for help and getting the care he needs.” She noted, “After what he’s been through in the past year, there’s probably no one who wanted to talk about his own health less than John.”

Fetterman was campaigning for the Pennsylvania Senate seat last year when he suffered a stroke. More recently, he was hospitalized last week for light-headedness but tests ruled out another stroke or a seizure. He has been using a closed-captioning device to help with his continued auditory processing issues from the stroke.

Fetterman gained an important victory for the Democrats when he won in the midterm elections in November against Republican Mehmet Oz. His victory led to the Democrats gaining their 51st seat after two years of a 50-50 split.

BUT did this man actually win the election or was it fixed like the others?

80 million people know the answer to that question. Of course he was installed as the tie breaker. Oz won but lost to a cheating democrat machine and Oz didn’t challenge the results…

The election may well have been “fixed,” but the more important point here is that he was not physically fit enough to have been elected. He should be stripped of his “title” and a new Senator appointed, one who is NOT his wife. Or, another election should be held to fill this position. I still am amazed that so many voters supposedly voted for him. What has happened to my home state of Pennsylvania that this has been allowed? Somewhere, someone is saying “Mea Culpa”

This was predictable, right? Brain-injured man placed in stressful situation and falls apart. Bless his soul and I hope for a good resolution for him but what a sham for the people of Pennsylvania who should have known better.

He will, at least, be the least destructive Democrat in Congress. Most Democrats use their mental issues as the impetuous for their career. The best Democrat Pennsylvania elected was the guy who died before the election.

Shouldn’t all Democrat Senators check in for mental health screening?
