Liz Cheney: Jan. 6 committee informed DOJ that Trump tried witness tampering

- Rep. Liz Cheney said: “After our last hearing, President Trump tried to call a witness in our investigation.”
- Cheney, the vice chair of the Jan. 6 House committee, said she had notified the Department of Justice of the attempted call.
- If more evidence surfaced, Trump could face witness-tampering charges.
The Jan. 6 House select committee revealed that it notified the Department of Justice that former President Donald Trump tried to contact one of its witnesses who hasn’t publicly testified yet.
“After our last hearing. President Trump tried to call a witness in our investigation. A witness you have not yet seen in these hearings,” Rep. Liz Cheney said Tuesday.
“That person declined to answer or respond to President Trump’s call and instead alerted their lawyer to the call. Their lawyer alerted us. And this committee has supplied that information to the Department of Justice,” , the vice chair of the committee added.
The hearing on Tuesday was the latest round of testimony in the investigation that started last year.
The committee presented new testimony from several major witnesses, including former White House counsel Pat Cipollone. He told the panel’s investigators in an earlier testimony that he believed the election wasn’t stolen and it was time for Trump to concede.
Cheney’s stunning revelation comes after last month’s damning testimony from former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson. She told the committee that Trump supporters tried to prevent her from revealing too much information.
The Jan. 6 committee members have expressed concern over witness safety after Hutchinson’s testimony and have taken some precautions. The committee decided to no longer announce who will testify before the hearing.
Hutchinson went into hiding with her family and a security detail after making explosive claims in the January 6 hearings, The New York Times reported.

I do think you are like they say about an Ostridge, having their head in the sand. Now even the Republicans in the Senate said they knew Trump was guilty in both impeachments, but they were not going to let their Republican President be the First President removed from office, which would be a dangerous mark against the Conservatives, being that Nixon left voluntarily and that would be two Republicans removed from office.
In my American Legion when the election was held in 2020, about 90% of the members supported Trump, now after the last public hearing it as about or less than 50% who think that Trump was innocent of causing the Jan 6 Insurrection.

Appeals would take 6 mths for lower court , up to 16 mths for circuit court, up to 3 yrs for exculpatory new evidence.All J6 information thrown out for omission of due process. Committee being hand selected by the speaker is unconstitutional and would be dismissed by SCOTUS. “Every accused person has the right to face their accuser and have those accusers cross examined, none has been allowed by closed door 100% partisan committee.Kinzinger and Cheney are already ruled as acting democrats since they were chosen by Democrat speaker while constitution says ” equal representation must be allowed to cross examine and call their own witnesses ” “the minority party reps must be chosen by minority leader- McCarthy. Nowhere does it say who the witness that Trump tried to call was. It could have been a friend, a family member, or perhaps someone that used to work for him. The committee didn’t attempt to ascertain why Trump was making the call. Heck, Trump may not even know the person is a witness, since former Republican Liz Cheney stated that the person has yet to testify. But besides all that, the witness didn’t take the call!! They have no clue why Trump called or what he would have said. Remember, this isn’t a legal process, there has been no due process, meaning Trump didn’t receive discovery documents, names of his accusers, nothing that would normally by required through a court of law. Nowhere, outside of DC, could you charge a person with witness tampering for merely placing a phone call. There’s no direct evidence of a crime. Placing the call might be closer to being illegal had due process been followed, and Trump knew who the witnesses were and if they were going to testify. So far, their “star” witness was someone who wasn’t actually a witness to anything she testified to. And surprise, surprise, now she is claiming that Trump “supporters” TRIED to keep her from releasing “too much” information. Unless she withheld testimony, there would be no reason to commit a crime and try to keep her from saying what she said, because her entire testimony would amount to nothing more than hearsay in a court of law. I hope everyone realizes that this is costing us tens of millions of dollars. We can’t afford these bs political hit job investigations that yield nothing close to what they promise. We have a war in Ukraine to pay for, we can’t be wasting any money on this crap.

What is this clown show costing the American people, how many millions of dollars will be spent, for nothing to happen. Why do we have people that have been locked up over 18 months, and have yet to been charged. This is what the committee should be investigating, but they won’t. If they did, it would show, just how bad our government at every level is violating everyday Americans constitutional rights. Remember only one person died that they from a gun and it was an unarmed individual protester that was on the other side of the door tat was secured, when she was shot by the Capital police officer. Were is the investigation on that crime?

This is more drama to distract you from the very real and serious problems this bunch of hateful people are ignoring and doing to our country. Instead of finding ways to stop this admin from destroying our energy production, opening our borders to illegals, terrorists, drugs, human trafficking, weapons and the high crime brought by their attack on law enforcement and laws in general, they are trying and failing to actually address Jan 6. If they were they would bring in the FBI plant in the proud boys who said they did nothing wrong, they would release the thousands of hours of surveillance video, they would release the people they are holding illegally..The list goes on. This isn’t a court..its a witch hunt. Trump has done nothing wrong and pretty obvious. Now its just vindictiveness and fear. Making a phone call isn’t witness tampering and this isn’t a trial. In a trial you have a legal right to defend yourself and face your accusers.

I quit the Democrat Party in 1950 because of the unlawful, illegal, and immoral Democrat politicians. Two of my uncles were postal carriers, and my aunt was the postmistress, for a town of about 5,000. My two uncles used to brag about how they used to collect ballots that were mailed, take them home, and fill out the ballot themselves. My Uncle Jake told me that damned near every mail carrier did the same thing. Most of the citizens who picked their mail up at the post office were politely told to simply sign the ballot and she (my aunt, the post mistress) would “take care of the rest.” Sure as hell, when the 1952 elections were held, my uncles and my aunt went to work and voted to have only Democrats marked on the ballots. The elections committee never once expressed a thought that “something may not be right.” There was no surprise to me or thousands of others when all of the Democrats were re-elected, or new Democrats were elected. Some news media mentioned that it was strange some voting precincts reported almost 100% for the Democrats. The Republicans also did some shady things, but not near as unlawful, illegal, and immoral as the Democrats. The Democrat Party can best be compared to a public toilet; no matter who goes in, only turds come out. One of my good friends who says he is a Democrat supporter told me this: “Politicians are a breed of their own. The Good Lord doesn’t want them up in Heaven with him; Satan does not want them in hell with him; so it doesn’t make a rats ass who is elected; dammit, we’re stuck with the slimy bastards.”

I’m getting tired of the shape shifting Demoncrats and their tactics. Yes, Nixon resigned rather than get the boot. It was supposed to be more honorable, which is something unknown to the left. What Joe has done in his first 18 months is beyond belief and will likely worsen. His resignation would be welcomed. But then again, that would move the VP up a notch. Now that’s scary too. The J6 committee is called an inquiry but set up like the inquisition but with a set of unwritten rules that would not be allowed in any court. It’s definitely in no way bipartisan, and the entire goal is to keep their base from concentrating on the pain of inflation ahead of the midterms and keep Trump from running in 2024. However, the stakes are much higher than that. The far left doesn’t live in the real world. Our government was meant to give everyone a voice but not meant to totally shut out ideas from any side. There are a few truths that apply to everyone. 1. There is no utopia. 2. Nothing is truly free. 3. The world doesn’t owe you a living. Somehow we have forgotten the importance of compromise. THAT concept has saved our bacon in the past. Enough with the dirty tricks already !
