Romney Holds Firm: Denies Support for Trump’s Potential 2024 Run

Clear Facts

  • Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah continues to withhold support for former President Trump regarding the possible 2024 elections.
  • Romney was present at a recent closed-door meeting with Trump and other Republican senators, explicitly stating he was there “to listen to what he was planning on doing if he became president,” not to demonstrate support.
  • Romney’s persistent position is linked to his disapproval of Trump’s personal character, particularly in reference to the case of E. Jean Carroll, where Trump was held accountable for sexual abuse and defamation.

Despite recent events, Senator Mitt Romney, R-Utah, remains steadfast in his lack of support for former President Trump, considering the potential 2024 election. Romney clarified his intentions even after attending a recent private meeting with Trump and other Republican senators.

“I didn’t go there to support former President Trump. I went there to listen to what he was planning on doing if he became president,” Romney stated.

The meeting was designed to give Trump a platform to present new policy positions, targeting workers in pivotal swing states ahead of any possible November election. Romney had initially not planned to attend, however, a canceled flight led him to revise his plans.

Romney’s stance is rooted in more profound issues. “With President Trump, it’s a matter of personal character,” he maintains.

“I draw a line and say when someone has been actually found to have been sexually assaulted, that’s something I just won’t cross over in the person I wouldn’t want to have as president of the United States.”

Romney is alluding to the E. Jean Carroll case. In this case, Trump, while not held liable for rape, was found responsible for sexual abuse and defamation. Carroll stated that Trump sexually assaulted her in 1996 in a Manhattan department store.

Carroll’s claim resulted in a defamation lawsuit against Trump, arguing that his denial harmed her reputation. The jury ruled in Carroll’s favor, agreeing that she was injured due to the controversial statements Trump made in June 2019 during his presidency.

Romney’s representative verified the senator’s statements, noting, “That is what he said and has been saying this for months — it’s not new.”

On a related note, there has been no immediate response from the Trump campaign regarding the senator’s stance. The jury awarded Carroll $83.3 million, including $65 million in punitive damages and $18.3 million for reputational repair and compensatory damages.

For now, Romney remains unwavering in his stance, consistently expressing his concerns with Trump’s personal character. It will certainly be intriguing to observe how this political dynamic evolves in the upcoming months.

Carrol is a money hungry nut case who talks to squirrels. Romney better focus on policy or he will be gone like the rest of Rhinos.

Who cares? Unfortunately jealousy eats away at your common sense. Even Republicans and Rinos can’t believe Trump won before they did.

Who listens to Mr. Romney anyway? Only “in-name -only” people who don’t have positive solutions to our problems. Mr. Romney, ” only by their fruit shall we know them!” Mr. Trump delivered on his promises for 4 years under obsessive persecutions from the Left and people like you! So what have you done to solve or give solutions to our country’s problems? All we have heard are your non-support, and your complaints. All words, but no actions. So long, Mr. Romney. Even from polls in your constituency show their doubts about your representation of them. You have not understood the under-privileged and their needs, because you’ve obviously turned your back on them. Is it because you are one of the wealthy elites, Mr. Romney?

It’s not about Trump’s character, it’s about Romney following the orders of his superiors, the Jesuits.

I am not worried about Trump being President. He will have lots to do about what he started last time in office.
