WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Trump calls out NYC Mayor de Blasio, who pushes for the creation of “Black Lives Matter” mural in front of the President’s property.
  • Trump claims the NYPD is upset with the protesters’ mural, calling the messages depicted are anti-police and against the government.
  • The mural creation was following protests against police brutality which was significantly triggered by the murder of George Floyd.

President Donald Trump does not wish to see Black Lives Matter reminders whenever he opens the door in one of his properties.

On Thursday, the top executive complained that the famous Fifth Avenue stretch fronting his Midtown skyscraper, Trump Tower/Tiffany would be devastated if Mayor Bill de Blasio pushes the plan to construct a huge “Black Lives Matter” mural on the area.

Trump expressed dismay on Twitter, saying the NYC police are not happy with the planned mural, which sends a message against law enforcers. The President, though, did not show any proof about his claim about the police being upset.

The anti-police sentiment Trump cited was taken from local news reports by St. Paul, Minnesota, where several protesters had allegedly cried it during a recent rally, a White House official claimed.

Both the NYPD and representative for de Blasio was not available for comment.

In a previous tweet, Trump lambasted Hawk Newsome, the head of Black Lives Matters New York chapter about the statement he made during an interview.

Trump called the move treason, claiming via Twitter that the Black Lives Matter president said that if the country does not give in to their demand, they will replace the status quo.

The U.S president’s furious tweets were following the announcement by de Blasio that the city will be painted with the protest battle cry “Black Lives Matter” on Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th fronting Trump’s skyscraper.

In addition to “Black Lives Matter” street murals existing in Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and the Bronx,  the city is also to create paintings on in downtown Manhattan’s Centre Street and at Harlem’s Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard.

The ideas for the painting the murals were amidst protest on the killing of George Floyd, a black-American who died while under arrest by Minneapolis cops.

Trump has consistently shown he’s unwilling to participate on the “Black Lives Matter” effort as he remained to oppose the dismantling of Confederacy monuments and other known racist installations.

With the presidential election nearing, Trump has used progressively use contentious semantics while discussing issues of social class and race, a campaign strategy he already utilized when he first run in 2016.
