Rep. Madison Cawthorn has conceded defeat in the Republican primary election in North Carolina, his spokesman informed reporters on Tuesday night.

Cawthorn, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has offered his congratulations to State Sen. Chuck Edwards, who was endorsed by U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.).

Cawthorn wrote on Twitter, “Congratulations to @ChuckEdwards4NC on securing the nomination tonight. It’s time for the NC-11 GOP to rally behind the Republican ticket to defeat the Democrats’ nominee this November.”

A winner is yet to be projected in Cawthorn’s congressional district.

Cawthorn, now 26 years old, was the youngest member of Congress when he was elected in 2010 to replace former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows. He is one of 13 U.S. House members from North Carolina.

The freshman lawmaker was hounded by several controversies that drew harsh criticism even from fellow Republicans, among which included: claiming that fellow lawmakers invited him to orgies and did illegal drugs; bringing a loaded handgun to an airport; driving with a revoked license; suspected insider trading related to a meme cryptocurrency; and calling Ukraine’s president a “thug” amid Russia’s invasion.

Tillis, who endorsed Edwards, openly called for a congressional ethics investigation into Cawthorn after reports of possible insider trading. Several ads attacking Cawthorn were reportedly paid for by a political action committee affiliated with Tillis.

Cawthorn supporters urged voters to give Madison a second chance.

But Tillis told NBC News, “Technically, this is the sixth or seventh chance. He hasn’t learned from a mistake he’s made over the last year.”

How many “ mistakes” has Tillis made? Most of the “ scandals about Cawthorn were “ manufactured” by opponents because they are afraid of him! He shouldn’t have conceded so early, he should have hung on and fought to the last minute!

Everything he’s accused of are things that EVERY congressman is ENTITLED to…..and they do! If he were a Democrat, this wouldn’t even be news.

There’s always 3 sides to the story. My yours and the truth. Only he and God knows the truth. As far as insider trading. I guess most of our elected officials should step down. But it’s true, if he where a democrat this would be sweep under the rug.

These three comments say it all. However, the worst part is that if it was a Democrat none of it would matter and we all believe it. Further, where is the proof? Oh yeah, he’s a Republican.
