Kinzinger thinks Trump would lie under oath to Jan. 6 committee

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Rep. Adam Kinzinger said that there’s no value in getting former President Trump to testify before the Jan 6. committee.
  • Kinzinger told CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday that the committee has gathered a lot of information without Trump.
  • The Illinois congressman also said that he would rather former Vice President Mike Pence testify.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger said he’s “not sure what the value is there” in trying to have former President Donald Trump testify before the Jan. 6 committee. The Illinois Republican said he did not trust that Trump would tell the truth, even under oath.

“Donald Trump has made it clear that he doesn’t mind not telling the truth. Let’s just put that mildly. He lies all the time. I wouldn’t put it past him to even lie under oath, so I’m not sure what the value is there,” Kinzinger told CBS “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan on Sunday.

Kinzinger added he would rather hear the perspective of former Vice President Mike Pence. However, he wasn’t sure if he preferred a subpoena for Pence to testify in person or a request for a transcribed interview.

“That said, I’m not sure we get a ton more out of him than what his staff has already told us.”

Marc Short, the former vice president’s chief of staff, testified before the committee in January. Last week, Short told CBS it would set a “very risky precedent” to ask his former boss to testify before the committee.

Kinzinger said that the committee’s eighth public hearing, scheduled for Thursday, is the end of this “grouping.” But he added that there could be more hearings as new information surfaces.

“I think the thing to keep in mind is this: This investigation is not winding down. We may be towards the end of this tranche of hearings. We may have more hearings in the future. And the investigation is still ongoing. So we’re getting to the bottom of what we need to know,” he said.

“As you saw with Cassidy Hutchinson, if we get information that the American people need to know, we may end up bringing up more hearings at that time too,” he said.

God knows politicians lie and so does anyone with an IQ over 3. Look at this clown squatting in the White House. Three years of Russian collusion and not one FBI Agent in prison. Some justice system! the two RINOs on this committee are a joke. Let’s take a look at the hunter and sleepy for a change.

It’s funny that these people on the kangaroo court can convict someone and tell everyone that they will lie before even calling them as a witness. This committee is a waste of the taxpayers dollars, They should be taking care of the business that they were elected to do and work to solve the economy that is going down the drain.
