Madbury Family Tragedy Leaves Community Stunned

“Each of the deceased family members appears to have suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene,” the attorney general’s office stated.

Ryan Long, who worked as a school psychologist, was reportedly battling glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.

Autopsies found Ryan Long died from multiple gunshot wounds, with Parker Long suffering a single gunshot wound to the head.

“While investigators are becoming aware of various concerns/issues ongoing in the household at the time of the event in question, people should avoid speculating that this event was caused by a single reason or stressor,” the attorney general’s office advised.

Emily discussed feeling “really depressed” and becoming reclusive in a recent online video, saying she was striving to bring normalcy back for her children as her husband’s health declined.

“I am determined to create normalcy,” Emily said in her video.

“I have been struggling so much and really depressed and have really become reclusive and just wanted to be with my kids and my husband. That being said, I’m making a change and it is starting today … And I’m making a point to get out of my depression and do this for my family.”

The attorney general’s office assured the public there is no ongoing threat and no further updates are expected until all autopsies conclude.

Neighbors described the Long family as caring and active members of the community, recalling their children’s recent lemonade stand and their father’s involvement in local life.

“It was shocking,” neighbor Bevy Ketel told reporters. “It was a perfect family, as far as we knew.”

“He certainly touched a lot of lives. He was part of the fabric of the community, and his family went along with it.”

This tragic event has left many searching for answers and reminds us all of the importance of supporting those facing hardships, even if their struggles are not visible to those around them.
