The New York Mets made a significant move by reportedly trading for Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta. This follows an active offseason for the Mets as they work to improve their rotation and overall roster.

Infielder Jett Williams and pitcher Brandon Sproat, both among the Mets’ top prospects, are being dealt to Milwaukee. The Brewers will also send right-hander Tobias Myers to the Mets, adding depth to their pitching staff.

The Mets have taken notable actions under general manager David Stearns, with previous additions like Bo Bichette and outfielder Luis Robert Jr. Myers has a 3.48 ERA from 31 starts since his MLB debut in 2024, as well as a 1.62 ERA in 18 relief appearances, strengthening the Mets’ pitching options.

Stearns also strengthened the bullpen by bringing in former New York Yankees Devin Williams and Luke Weaver. Williams, who previously worked with Stearns in Milwaukee, is set for a comeback as the Mets’ closer.

For the Brewers, Sproat offers potential future starting pitching, boasting 113 strikeouts in 121 Triple-A innings last season after a brief four-start MLB stint. Williams, a versatile 22-year-old infielder who can also play center field, hit .261 with 17 home runs and 34 stolen bases across Double- and Triple-A in the 2023 season.

Mets fans look forward to seeing how these new additions enhance the team’s chances moving into the next season.
