New App Empowers Reporting of Antisemitic Acts Anonymously
Clear Facts
- The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) launched the “Report It” smartphone app for anonymous reporting of antisemitic incidents.
- CAM claims over 12,000 antisemitic incidents worldwide in the past five years and estimates most go unreported.
- Users can submit reports to be assessed and potentially sent to law enforcement, media, or community organizations.
The Combat Antisemitism Movement unveiled a new app designed to let individuals report antisemitic incidents quickly and anonymously. CAM’s announcement states that the app aims to offer a secure and straightforward way for people to submit details on graffiti, harassment, incitement, or violence related to antisemitism.
According to CAM, submitted reports will be checked and may be forwarded to law enforcement, media outlets, or local organizations. The group emphasizes that verified information will be carefully reviewed before any action is taken.
CAM’s data shows over 12,000 recorded antisemitic acts globally in five years. They claim that up to 80% of such actions remain officially unreported, urging broader awareness and easier ways to document these issues.
CAM commissioned a survey showing 3.5 million Jewish Americans experienced antisemitism following the Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
The organization said personal details of users who report incidents anonymously will be protected.
CAM did not outline its process for verifying incidents or its exact criteria for contacting authorities.
“Research and reports have consistently demonstrated that the overwhelming majority of antisemitic incidents are unreported, frequently because of a mistrust of authorities, a lack of awareness of reporting systems, bureaucratic hurdles, and excessive ‘red tape,'” CEO Sacha Roytman of the CAM said.
“With ‘Report It,’ we are giving every individual a quick, safe, and effective way to shine a light on hate, hold perpetrators accountable, and drive meaningful change. Together, we can fight back against antisemitism and build safer, stronger communities.”
This new app reflects a growing demand for tools that protect individual privacy while addressing hate in society.
