WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Pro-trump supporters and far-right activists were calling for “armed protests” days before the inauguration day of President-elect Joe Biden.
  • Some extremists were still pushing for aggressive rallies despite the mayhem that happened during Wednesday’s Congress joint session.
  • The Capitol riot resulted in five deaths and was widely denounced by public officials.

Experts have warned of upcoming possible unrest as some of President Donald Trump’s supporters and far-right activists were calling for more rallies before President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20.

In a post uploaded to social media site Parler on Saturday evening, some extremists are plotting to continue the violence as it urges pro-Trump supporters to join a proposed “armed march” on Capitol Hill and state capitol buildings on January 17.

The post has a headline that reads, “When democracy is destroyed, refuse to be silenced.”

Then, a succeeding phrase follows: “Armed march on Capitol Hill and all state Capitols.”

Added by a user named Kenneth Brooks, the poster ended with a statement: “Dont let their efforts be in vain. Demand freedom. End the corruption. Stand for liberty.”

Some extremists would still want to pursue aggressive efforts even as law enforcement authorities have already identified and arrested individuals who participated in Wednesday’s chaos.

According to TMZ, there were calls of “armed protests” initiated by other far-right extremists prior to the Wednesday siege on Capitol. In northern California, an insurgency transpired inside a government building when a dozen of protesters were able to enter the chambers of the Shasta County Board of Supervisor and vented their anger on Biden’s victory.

Per The LA Times, one of the demonstrators named Timothy Fairfield, addressed the supervisors:

“When Joe Biden’s long winter sets and the dark night comes in this country, do you think you’re going to get to see the dawn?… No, you will not. Flee now while you can. Because the days of your tyranny are drawing to a close, and the legitimacy of this government is waning.”

He continued: “When the ballot box is gone, there is only the cartridge box. You have made bullets expensive. But luckily for you, ropes are reusable.”

Wednesday’s Capitol riot resulted in five deaths which included one police officer. The siege was widely condemned by US political leaders from both the GOP and Democratic side.

Because of the chaos, social media giants Facebook and Twitter decided to suspend Trump’s accounts, citing his capability to add more fuel to the fire.
