WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Following President Donald Trump’s falsely announcing of election victory, demonstrators flock in Philadelphia with a call to count all votes.
  • Protesters chose the spot near Philadelphia’s Independence Hall as it is a symbol of democracy for all Americans.
  • The rally ended in the evening without known arrests or violence reported.

On Wednesday, hundreds of people assembled in the biggest city of Pennsylvania in protest run, calling for the count of every vote in the presidential polls at the crucial battleground state.

The protest was following the attempt by President Donald Trump’s campaign to cease the legal counting of ballot progress there and to lift his baseless and hasty claim of a win in the close election race this week.

Headed by different progressive groups, the “Count Every Vote” protest, began in the afternoon adjacent to Philadelphia’s Independence Hall. Several presenters, including resident ministers and Democratic legislators, chose the location for its symbol, saying the Trump’s act challenging this year’s election process is a clear threat to the democracy formed in the building. The historic structure is where both the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were ratified at the nation’s founding.

The protest was only one of the rally they had on Wednesday was only one of several responses throughout America, as Trump’s team filed chains of unsubstantiated lawsuits versus Michigan Pennsylvania, and Georgia. The move was reported to be an attempt to put a stamp to major states from continuing the count of legal mail-in ballots which was a usual voting procedure amidst the pandemic. Joe Biden’s supporters are known to prefer this method.

Aaron Myers, 53, a protester, told HuffPost on Wednesday that they only want an impartial election, adding that if all votes would be counted, Trump will not be reelected, and opponent Joe Biden will be victorious.

Hundreds of demonstrators were seen around 3 p.m. and assembled at the streets going towards the City Hall.

The group passed close to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, where Trump’s team had promoted a presser featuring Eric Trump, the president’s son, together with Rudy Giuliani, among others from the campaign.

However, when many reporters have flocked for the press conference to begin, a campaign spokesperson unexpectedly said the event would be canceled.

A police officer from Philadelphia, meanwhile, told HuffPost the conference was postponed following the growing crowd of protesters. The presser went on with Eric Trump, and Giuliani held borders of the city next to the Philadelphia International Airport, making unsubstantiated claims about the validity of the elections in Pennsylvania.
