  • The Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., has been offering “gender-affirming” hysterectomies to young kids, according to a recorded call and an archived webpage.
  • The hospital staff confirmed via phone call that they would provide a hysterectomy for a 16-year-old patient.
  • The hospital later released a statement that they do not provide such surgeries for patients under the age of 18.

An audio recording and an archived webpage revealed that the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., provided “gender-affirming” hysterectomies and other services for children under the age of 18.

The hospital’s website previously included “gender-affirming medical care and gender-affirming hysterectomy” in the list of gynecology services provided for “patients between the ages of 0-21.” The site has since been updated to remove the offer from the list.

The information was recently revealed by the social media account Libs of TikTok.

After coming across the hospital’s website, the Libs of TikTok founder called the hospital to confirm the information. In the audio recording of the call, the hospital staff can be heard agreeing to schedule a gender-affirming hysterectomy for a 16-year-old patient. When asked what the usual age was for patients of such procedures, staff admitted to seeing patients younger than the age of 16.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Children’s National Hospital for comment. A spokesperson insisted that the hospital does not offer gender-affirming surgery for kids.

When asked about the recorded phone call, the spokesperson said that the conversation was made “with hospital operators, not anyone who delivers care to our patients.”

The hospital also released a statement in response to the recording.

The statement reiterated that the hospital is “committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all and to serving our LGBTQ+ patients and families in the full spectrum of their care.”

However, they clarified that they “do not provide gender-affirming surgery for anyone under the age of 18,” nor offer hormone therapy to kids “before puberty begins.” They added that such decisions involve the consent of families and the advice of “a team of highly trained pediatric specialists.”

When asked about their website’s previous listing of “gender-affirming” hysterectomies for kids between the ages of 0-21, the hospital spokesperson dismissed it as “a flaw in the design of our website.”

According to online archives, the said hospital listing was included since at least June 2021 and was only removed recently.

In line with the hospital’s “inclusive” care, they also have a “Youth Pride Clinic.” The clinic offers “physicals, hormonal treatment, and mental health counseling for transgender and gender-nonconforming youth.”
