One of the leaders of ReOpen NC, a group that advocates for lifting North Carolina’s coronavirus-related restrictions, revealed that she had tested positive for COVID-19.

Audrey Whitlock shared the information with the ReOpen NC’s Facebook group on Sunday. She said that her 14-day quarantine ended that day.

“As an asymptomatic COVID19 positive patient (quarantine ends 4/26) another concern I have is the treatment of COVID patients as it relates to other communicable diseases.

I have been forced to quarantine in my home for 2 weeks,” Whitlock wrote in the post, which was obtained by Raleigh station CBS 17.

She went on to say that her First Amendment, Fifth Amendment, and 14th Amendment rights have been violated by Gov. Roy Cooper’s (D) stay-at-home order.

The ReOpen NC leader wrote, “I have been told not to participate in public or private accommodations as requested by the government, and therefore denied my 1st amendment right of freedom of religion.”

Whitlock argued that since lawmakers are not abiding by the Constitution, she should get a refund of all taxes she has paid during the shutdown.

Gov. Cooper’s stay-at-home order has since been met with two protests in Raleigh by ReOpen NC. The group plans to continue their protests every Tuesday until the order is lifted. Whitlock declared that she would join Tuesday’s protest.

The state’s stay-at-home-order started on March 27 and was extended last week until May 8.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services confirmed that there have been 9,142 cases of COVID-19 and 306 deaths in the state so far.
