WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The Moscow Police Department has recently received nearly 20,000 tips regarding the University of Idaho student murders.
  • The police department has “conducted over 300 interviews” but has yet to identify any suspect.
  • Officials continue to ask for tips from the public as they keep searching for key clues that have been held back.

Moscow Police Chief James Fry said that the department has received nearly 20,000 tips in connection to the quadruple homicide of University of Idaho students in November.

Students Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernoodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were stabbed to death on Nov. 13 at an off-campus home.

Fry said that they recently received “over 19,650 tips,” 9,025 of which were sent via emails; 6,050 via digital media; and 4,575 via phone calls. His office received about 1,000 a day for the past 10 days, having hit the 10,000 mark on Dec. 19.

Fry said that the police department will keep investigating and following up on those tips. So far, they have “conducted over 300 interviews” but have yet to identify any suspect.

The police department believes that there are still some key clues that are being held back, so they continue to ask the public to share “additional pictures, video, and social media content.” They stated, “Investigators believe someone has information that adds context to what occurred on the night of the murders.”

The police noted, “Our focus remains on the investigation, not an individual’s activities displayed in the tip.”

One of the clues being looked into is a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra that was spotted near the victims’ residence.

Officials did not elaborate if the vehicle’s occupant(s) at the time were being treated as suspects or key witnesses, but investigators believe that they “may have critical information to share about this case.”

Police initially said that there could be at least 22,000 vehicles that met the description nationwide. On Wednesday, Fox News reported that about 90 such vehicles were registered to park at the school.

They made an arrest in that case. I’d figure an alleged news site would know that.

Where have you had your head stuck for the last several days? An arrest has been made and he likely will be on his way to Idaho in the next few days. I can’t imagine a reason not to unsubscribe you. You won’t need to save my name as this will be my first and last comment.
