Police respond to ‘family matter’ at Ted Cruz’s home

Houston Police were called to Sen. Ted Cruz’s home Tuesday night in the upscale neighborhood of River Oaks for reports of a teen with self-inflicted stab wounds, ABC13 reported.
The Houston Police Department said it received reports on Tuesday night, just before 8 p.m. local time, of a 14-year-old girl with self-inflicted stab wounds on their arms.
The Republican senator has two daughters Catherine, 11, and Caroline, 14.
According to ABC13, authorities said the then-unnamed teen was rushed to the hospital but it was not immediately clear whether the 911 call involved a member of the Cruz family.
A representative of Cruz released a statement late Tuesday, saying the senator’s daughter was OK and asked for privacy for the family.
“This is a family matter and thankfully their daughter is okay,” Cruz’s representatives said in a statement to ABC affiliate KTRK and other outlets. “There were no serious injuries. The family requests the media respect their daughter’s privacy at this time,” Cruz’s office said.
The senator was in Washington, D.C. when the incident happened.

I agree with you CPO Bill.It often happens to the youth theses day. My granddaughter did the same thing when she was that age.Thank God all that changed.She was bullied at school so her parents put her in Martial arts class and she excelled.She was tops in the class and got her black belt first.It really made a difference.

As one of those Dem libs, I just want to say that we agree on this one, I’m very sad and concerned for this teen, and I don’t care who her family is. No glee here, and there was no need for all of to know about her trauma. However, given Mr. Cruz’ celebrity status and penchant for the limelight, not surprising that the media jumped on police visit to his home.
