Musk ‘confident’ Neuralink brain chips are ready for human trials in 6 months [Video]

Neuralink brain chips could be ready for human trials in the next six months, Elon Musk announced at a show-and-tell event on Wednesday.
The show-and-tell event was hosted at the California headquarters of Musk’s neurotechnology company. The original schedule was on Oct. 31 but Musk postponed it without explanation.
Musk showed footage of a monkey fitted with a Neuralink brain chip. He said that the brain-computer interface technology helps the monkey “telepathically type,” or use its brain to move the cursor to select the highlighted letters or words.
The coin-sized Neuralink brain chip has tiny wires with electrodes that are designed to monitor brain activity and electrically stimulate the brain. The company aims to embed the chip into a person’s skull, using a robot also being developed by the company.
Musk tweeted after the event, “We are now confident that the Neuralink device is ready for humans, so timing is a function of working through the FDA approval process.”
Musk hopes to use the brain-computer interface to help people suffering from paralyzing conditions. The company aims to give them a way to communicate using their thoughts, and in the future restore full-body functionality to people with a severed spinal cord or even restore sight.
Musk has been known to set ambitious timelines for projects in his various companies, but he has usually missed them.
For Neuralink, Musk said back in 2019 that human trials could start by the end of 2020. He made similar claims in 2020, in early 2021, and in January 2022.

This has long been speculated as we’ve known we are
electrostatically driven, so given our success with digital
computers we should be able to sort this out. Mr. Musk
is just the man to guide this work.

Though excited by this news I am also fearful where opening this Pandora’s Box will lead to? Will this chip be able to be hacked or able to be tampered with ?
