WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • In their latest Twitter quarrel, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lambasted Sen. Ted Cruz, saying the Republican almost had her killed.
  • Cruz retweeted AOC’s remarks over the GameStop issue that beset Wall Street this week that involved online trading platform Robinhood.
  • The New York Democrat has held Cruz and some Republicans responsible for initiating the assault of the U.S Capitol earlier this January.

The grudge between Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez escalated on Twitter on Thursday.

Cruz retweeted a post from Ocasio-Cortez about the update in the GameStop saga this week that afflicted Wall Street.

Ocasio-Cortez slammed Robinhood, the online trading facility, following its restriction to its app subscribers from transacting GameStop shares. The retailer faced an unexpected growth in its stock this week.

To limit trading by small-scale investors, who several Wall Street experts are anxious could abolish hedge funds, Robinhood acted to prevent its patrons from trading without restrictions and overturned the rising trend in GameStop stock worth on Thursday.

Ocasio-Cortez said the move was not tolerable, adding on Twitter that

“We now need to know more about [Robinhood’s] decision to block retail investors from purchasing stock while hedge funds are freely able to trade the stock as they see fit.”

Cruz seemed to agree with the Democrat, retweeting the post with the simple message of support.

Ocasio-Cortez misinterpreted the gesture, though. And instead of recognizing the unusual instance where she and Cruz can agree on an issue, she rejected the senator’s backing, turning the discussion about this month’s assault on the U.S. Capitol.

The Lawmaker responded to Cruz by saying “I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out.”

She further commented that if Cruz wishes to help, the best he can do is resign.

The New York Representative has blamed Cruz and other GOP lawmakers for the Capitol riot for their allegations against the integrity of the recent presidential election.

Footages that were shared during and after the violence showed several pro-Trump rioters targeting some Democrats, including Ocasio-Cortez and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The Democrat Lawmaker has since frequently called for Cruz’s resignation from Senate.
