AOC warns Supreme Court could be coming for ‘gay marriage’ next
- The Supreme Court could be coming for other rights other than abortion, warned New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
- A recent leak revealed that the justices have been planning to overturn Roe v. Wade, which legally protects the right to abortion.
- Ocasio-Cortez said that the high court could be “coming for the right to privacy Roe rests on which includes gay marriage + civil rights.”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) emphasized the importance of codifying Roe v. Wade on Monday, warning that the Supreme Court “isn’t just coming for abortion” but other rights as well.
According to a Politico report on Monday night, a leaked draft opinion revealed that the Supreme Court is planning to overturn the landmark Roe case, which made abortion a constitutional right nationwide. The draft was penned by Justice Samuel Alito, a George W. Bush appointee.
Alito concluded that Roe and a subsequent case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, had no constitutional basis.
The opinion was dissected by Slate reporter Mark Joseph Stern, who wrote, “Alito’s draft opinion explicitly criticizes Lawrence v. Texas (legalizing sodomy) and Obergefell v. Hodges (legalizing same-sex marriage). He says that, like abortion, these decisions protect phony rights that are not ‘deeply rooted in history.’”
The congresswoman wrote on Twitter, “As we’ve warned, SCOTUS isn’t just coming for abortion — they’re coming for the right to privacy Roe rests on which includes gay marriage + civil rights.”
Ocasio-Cortez also called out Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, saying, “Manchin is blocking Congress codifying Roe. House has seemingly forgotten about Clarence Thomas. These 2 points must change.”
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) expressed his belief that the Senate may need to end the filibuster so they can codify Roe v. Wade into law. Ending the filibuster in the upper chamber has been previously opposed by Manchin, along with Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.).
Thomas faced criticism in late March after reports alleged that his wife aggressively led attempts to overturn the 2020 election in favor of former President Trump.

This from a woman that says she went to college. Just once they ought to read the scotus report and have someone explain it to them. All this decision was is allowing the state to make their own rules regarding abortions. It’s NOT ending abortions nationally. This is no different than the “don’t say gay” bill in Fla. They don’t know how they are damaging their own reputations with this lying discord. I guess they think Republicans can’t read either. In the meantime NOONE will listen anymore.

The Scotus may make a ruling on gay-rights. I doubt it because it has nothing to do with the Constitution. Same with abortions. This is the reason for the uproar over abortions, and the court is correcting the 1973 decision. The abortion whinners are making a fuss over the abortions right. This crowd cannot look to the end of their nose and see that abortions doesn’t need to happen. Women should take a pill before having sex so as not to get pregnant. Careless women and sex is the problem.

There is NO reason to think that curbing abortion that has led to over 63 million murders has anything to do with gay marriage or any other leftist religious ideals. Roe was just bad policy and case law. Its been that way for 50 years. There never was a right to murder another person, no matter where that person was. To think curbing this mass murder of children is leading to another liberal sacred cow to come down is just maniac stupidity. Something to stir up the idiots.

To those who oppose this decision should read what Judge Alito stated and that being they are just removing this from Federal jurisdiction and giving to each State. As for the law most States only difference is that abortion will only allowed in first tri-semester and with modern technology deliveries a can happen successfully. Rape and life expectancy of Mother will be exempt .
