Pence excludes Trump in farewell message [Video]

• Pence did not cite nor include a photo of President Donald Trump in his message.
• Pence did not attend Trump’s farewell event to grace Biden’s inauguration.

In a farewell message with photos of him and his family, on Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence expressed his gratitude after serving for four years at the White House. The post, though, neither mentioned nor included an image of President Donald Trump.

Just two weeks ago, on January 6, Pence was challenged by Trump to his authority to flip over the election results, as the Vice President was leading the official counting of Electoral College votes. 

“You can either go down in history as a patriot or you can go down in history as a pussy,” Trump taunted the vice president, the New York Times reported.

Pence, however, did not heed his boss’ call and proceeded with proclaiming President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

As pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol while Congress joint session was ongoing, some even chanted “Hang Mike Pence!”

The rioters were “perilously close” to reaching Pence, as per the Washington Post. And despite the violence, Trump did not even bother to check his vice president’s safety, albeit issuing a lukewarm video message, telling his supporters to stop the siege. The riot has resulted in five deaths including one Capitol Police officer.

Both leaders did not speak for days, according to reports.

Sharing his thoughts on the issue, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK.) said Pence was enraged over what happened.

“I’ve known Mike Pence forever… I’ve never seen Pence as angry as he was today,” Inhofe told Tulsa World.

The recent unfortunate turn of events was likely the reason why the outgoing vice president excluded his Commander-in-chief in his departing statement.

Pence and his wife Karen chose to skip Trump’s farewell ceremony to attend the inauguration of President Joe Biden.
