AOC Selling $58 ‘Tax The Rich’ Sweatshirt On Her Site

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a new campaign fund-raising strategy. The New York congresswoman now sells ‘expensive’ merchandise with trendy slogans like “Tax the rich,” “Abolish ICE,” and “Drink water & don’t be racist.”

AOC’s line of merchandise didn’t go unnoticed on Twitter as users slammed the congresswoman’s hypocrisy by coming up with the clothing line.

AOC is selling $65 dollar sweatshirts that say ‘tax the rich’ that only rich ppl can afford. Should just say ‘Tax Me,’” Twitter user @MattsIdeaShop wrote with a photo of the “Tax the rich” sweatshirt.

“When you’re aiming for socialism but you hit capitalism,” users said.

Another wrote that the “Squad” leader was also a member of the rich class because she earns a six-figure congressional income.

“Only the rich can afford this idiotic sweatshirt,” commented Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro.

Among the merch being sold is a $25 Green New Deal organic baby onesie, an “abolish ICE” cap for $28 and a $17 Green New Deal dog collar.

The proceeds are not intended for charity, but AOC’s political campaign, according to a disclaimer on the website that says “Purchases are campaign contributions.”

The 31-year-old congresswoman defended her merchandise and said the proceeds would fund grassroots organizing.

“Republicans are freaking out bc [sic] we don’t use slave-wage labor for merch that funds grassroots organizing,” AOC wrote. “But what’s the difference between Trump’s merch and ours? Ours is made in the US.”

President Donald Trump also has an official merchandise store that sells an official Trump-Pence dog collar for $15 while his famous signature red “Make America Great Again” cap costs $30.

A spokesman for the congresswoman did not respond right away to a request for comment.
